This Website (Miscellaneous)
« on: March 19, 2008, 08:38:42 am »
I've been using this site for nearly 2 years now and I just take it for granted.
It's pretty awesome really.

Just wondered who set it all up, when and why. What was the incentive?

And will someone explain how to copy sentences/paragraphs from postings and insert them into replies (in blue boxes), please - I've not worked it out yet!

Thanks

MIke

to quote someone, simply enclose their reply within quote tags...like this...

Code: [Select]
[quote] blah blah blah [/quote]
It will appear like this...

Quote
blah blah blah

If you want to specify who said your quote, use this as an example...

Code: [Select]
[quote author=Mike 108] blah blah blah [/quote]
Hope this helps

Quote from: Mike 108

Or........Top righthand side of each post you'll see a little tab which reads "Quote", just left hand mouse click and you have the whole quote in your reply box.  You can then put your cursor inside the quote and add or delete whatever.

Or........copy and paste into a reply box

to quote someone, simply enclose their reply within quote tags...like this...

Left click the 'insert quote tab' on the 'Add BBC tags' line just above your message box.

This opens up
Quote
Quote
in the message box. Next, highlight the text from the topic you wish to quote. Copy and paste it in between the two

Hope this expains it.

As for who set the site up, absolutely no bloody idea whatsoever but fair to you. lol  :D :D :D

Blimey :o

Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill.

Just click on the "quote" button at the top of every posting, and the content will appear in your "reply" box where you type a new posting.  You can put the cursor wherever you want, so delete bits of the quote you don't want, then put the cursor below the last "[-/quote-]" tag and your comments appear outside the blue quote box.

Re-read Ian Lancaster's reply:

Instead of making a comment, I think you just click on the appropriate smiley.  It will appear as a symbol when you click on it - but will appear as a smiley when you post it.

I can't post any smiley/sad/moody faces anymore, how come I can't use the buttons properly. I use to, now I can't.
