Sick of people wanting stuff done for nowt so.....

Hi all,

You can always tell the people who want you to go and do their carpets and upholstery for next to nothing so this is what I am going to do....

The next one that rings me and says they are not interested I am going to say "do you want the number of a company that are far bigger than me? In fact they are international based and charge 'Mickey Mouse' prices"? If they want the number I will give them this 0191 4602959

Sorry if I am being unprofessional but when idiots ring me up and expect a lounge/diner for £15 then I feel I have no choice!

Be honest................do you simply go out and buy; -

car insurance
satellite intallation
vans
machines
chemicals
bread
food
mobiles.............etc, etc. without a price comparison,  I certainly don't !

so why have a problem when other people do the same..................what you must understand, is that the people who are prepared to pay higher charges for ANYTHING represent less than 20% of the total market, so you will either deal with the majority by compromising your principles and offering a lesser service, but earn a lot of money, or treat them as lepers and wish you could afford the holiday, extention, whatever that you might otherwise have found the money for, or you might get lucky ( very lucky ) and find a steady supply of high rollers just desperate to thrust money in your hand for a couple of hours work.

I suspect many will have started, like myself, at the lower end, before pricing up gradually and slotting into the middle of the market, with occasional high end jobs and gaining more of both through recommends and referrals.

I still get occasional  calls from from "price shoppers" but have found they either accept my minimum price policy and we continue to talk, or they come out with the classic  " I'll get back to you" and they usually don't....................so what.
