I have signed up to attend this in March, but as a former cleaner returning to the trade would I get more out of the cleaners day out in April ?

Regards

Steve

Hi Steve

At Carpex you will see some of the industries suppliers and meet some other CC's.

At the CCDO you will meet lots of CC's in an informal atmosphere with an emphasis on real world cleaning.

I personally will not be attending Carpex as having attended the last two there is unlikely to be much I haven't seen before and the seminars appear very similar to previous years.

I will obviously be going to CCDO as I am giving a talk / demo on stain removal, fibre/carpet construction and the effects of different stain removers on different substrates.

If you can afford the time a visit to both would probably be useful but if you can only make one I would recommend CCDO.

Cheers

Doug

You will come away from Carpex with a head full of sales talk and a carrier full of leaflets  ;)

You should leave CCDO with a head full of new ideas and tips  ;D  ........................ even if you listen to my waffle  :P

As you are not a new comer....

if you cannot afford time/expense to go to both, I would say go to CCDO

I would say go to both.

Not all suppliers are atteding CCDO

All suppliers are not attending Carpex

Depends if you are buying new or secondhand

You may already have the equipment.

I would advise you to sign up for some refresher courses.

Although you may learn a lot at CCDO some of the methods apparantley are not the official way of doing it.

Hi Steve

Agree with everything Doug says.

I know your area well. Grew up in Sutton and lived (until last year) in Caterham. Banstead South and West onwards are very nice areas to work in.

You mentioned much about kit. It's very easy to tell you what are must haves but they all cost. Get your basic kit working for you and grow your kit from there.

As for carpex, well I think things like this are dying because of the internet and these type of forums. You don't need to go to Carpex to find out how good things are these days as you can simply ask those that use them daily.

And as for CCDO, I think that for someone in your position you'll find the evening before (at the hotel) as much a learning experience as any you'll get on a course. That said I certainly feel that Doug, Chris's and Mike's will be of great value to you. Jason and I have been in this industry for less than 7 years between us and we arranged this with (partly) people like us/you in mind.

You might even be able to hitch a ride with Chris as he's only just down the 217 from you. Be warned though, he goes on and on and only talks about conifer tree varieties so it could be a tough journey for you. ;D

Pete

Thanks everyone for your replies, have taken your advice and booked a place with Jason at CCDO and staying on the Sunday night.

Looking forward to meeting everyone and getting up to date with the trade after a break away.

Intending to speak to Chris this week at his kind request so I will mention about possibly going up together. I could always bore him to death about ski-ing and chelsea !

Regards

Steve
