Hi Guys n Girls,
                         Was wondering if anyone knows the best products to clean black smoke of kitchen appliances walls and ceilings. I have a client who has a smoke damaged kitchen black smoke looks lke smething caught a light on the hob wants a quote but I need to know what products I canb use apart from Sugasoap your speedy responses would be appreciated as I have to give a price today.

chemspec or national flood school or try express cleaning above.

smoke damage is not as simple as some might think to clean it depends on what has actually burnt and what smoke residue depends on what cleaning materials you need, try googleing as much info as possible before you enter into a price or you could end up using the wrong cleaning materials and consequently end up with the wrong result.

if you come back with more information i'm sure some one will be able to point you in the right direction, have you any photo's

hi there

you need an alkaline based product, this has an effect of neutralising the acidic smoke.

you must remember that you are cleaning down the walls and ceilings in readiness for redecoration, nothing more than that.  you will have to redecorate the walls.

kichen units/appliances can be cleaned with an alkaline product to a satisfactory level.

Ultrapak renovate should only really be used on carpets or soft furnishing as it a pre-spray

Chemspec supply all the products you require for smoke damage to walls and ceiling including bin primer for sealing in the soot once cleaned on the walls.

Any appliances that are heavily soot damaged even if cleanable you should not bother with if you have not got the knowledge to strip down, clean and PAT test. Any soot remaining in the electrical components could store up trouble for you in the future and cause a secondary fire

 If you know anyone that cleans electrical items sub it to them they will have the insurance.

we have had cases where housing associations want everything cleaned, to be reused, and when we issue our reports, of work done, recommendations, and inventory of write offs, etc,  they get a bit grumpy.

so stand your ground, if its a write off, then its a write off!!!

Thanks for your replies! I used Fairy liquid, and hot water got most of it off the cupboards and off the cook ad a bit off the walls the lady was happy with what I could do. Told her she needs to get the ceiling and walls painted

that is only a ph value of 9.0 at 10% dilution,

did you clean the walls etc??

Hi Martin I did clean the walls but informed the lady prior to cleaning that it will not come out completely and she will ave to decorate it. I first used a dry cloth and sponge to get off excess stains then used warm water and fairy liquid to clean every thing I also used Sugasoap as well. The lady was very happy with work I done. Thank you all who posted replies it was very helpful.
