Touch local!!
« on: February 16, 2008, 05:30:04 pm »
I have been with Yell and Yellow pages  for over a year and its not cheap, i have had a few jobs from this but not enough to cover the outlay, i had a sales call this week from Touch Local, they say they can get you number one on google and guarantee x amount of enquires per month!
Has anyone heard of or use this marketing company?

Type in 'Window Cleaners St.Austell' in google.co.uk and see which firm has the top listing  :)

People pay fortunes to ensure that their website has top google ranking but even that cannot guarantee it stays there.  Firms like Touch Local spend all of their time ensuring that their key word criteria perfectly matches google's search engines.

So if its guaranteed to stay there £50 a month is surely worth forking out?

Hi Tartan, after a few sales calls i nearly lost the will to live but apparantly you are number one on google searches and they can guarantee 400 enquires a month(not sure how they do it) It sounds like google adwords maybe they mean 400 clicks on there site, but they do one for 25 quid which guarantees 200 enquires, do you get much interest in Nottingham?
After yell i am cautious about internet firms

Nothing comes with guarantees.

We were top of Google list for "Window Cleaners Sittingbourne" for over a year.

Didn't get any enquiries from that source.

There's far better ways to spend your advertising budget.

I have yet to get a single query after 4 months of listing. All of my work still comes by word of mouth.

i think localised advertising, web, van and leaflet drops are more beneficial than over inflated companies, but in the past i have felt i need to be in to win it i have had a couple of decent jobs from yellow pages in the past but not a lot of late!!

sorry when you say who has the top listing i presumed you meant the one that came first. so if i was a customer needing a window cleaner in St Austell, and i did a google search, i would naturally pic the very top one (www.PerfectExample.co.uk).

I would not bother with web advertising i did it and didn't get anything.

I do have my own site which is number 1 in google and has been number 1 for a couple of years.

The search phrase window cleaner hartley.
But customers need to put the correct search phrase in that your site's number 1 on.

Save your money you won't get the enquiries they say

hi
i ve been in goggle sponsored link now for 6 months, bought 6 phrases managed to get 3  more free and also have been on with ufindus.com. with them i bought 2 more domain names which link back to main web address

we are also in yellow pages and Yell.com

also put myself on all the free links and any one who lists you locally

considering i am spending 160 per month between both companies! not including the 800 per year yellow pages

which is best? they all seem to pulling in different types of work, mostly one off  large cleans, yellow pages seems to take a year to get going.

goggle is the most prominent where ufindus is on more 1st pages

biggest quote is from goggle for three initial sites 150 flats two sites and 2 million pound sflats on another, will see if it comes off, keep me busy

will i stay advertising this way. yes will stop when and if it doesn't work

does it pay for its self?to date not out of pocket- Yet not generated regular work

would i reccomend it yes but not not in my area  ;D
