Just bought a 650 LTR Container.  There is screw thred hole and 8 inch cap.  I will have a DI canister so will have RO DI then to water container.  Presume the inlet is the screw thread and I just use sub-pump in 8inch cap to pump water to van.

Or have a got that all wrong ??!!

Will I need special connectors to connect to screw thread??

i dont really understand why you think you would need special connectors.......

 cant you simply put your ro/di in the van.... attach a hosepipe from outside tap to ro..... and from your di vessel, your pipe would then go straight to your van tank....


if thats not possible....... then i assume you mean can you use a sub pump to force water from your pure water tank , to your van tank..... yes thats all you need.

I am setting-up a static system in shed.  I have got the 650 ltr container and there is an inlet screw thread.  Question is this.  Is that where the water goes in to fill-up the container??


And if so, is there a standard fitting on the DI to screw into the container.

now i got you... i dont have a static but i understand what you mean....

the guys with statics will come on and tell you about any special connectors...

but cant you simply use the 8" hole and pop your pipe in there to fill it....its as easy to do that surely?

Problem with that is that the screw thred has no end cap on so unless that is closed all the water will run out

It looks as though you are supposed to use the screw thread as inlet???  If not then why is it there and what do you use to close it??

any holes / screw threads at the bottom are for an outlet/tap  or if there are two holes one at the top and one at the bottom sometimes this is for fitting a exterior volume reading pipe.

Usually you would just have the pipe going into the top of the tank through the lid, or some people have the inlet through a hole in the top of the side of the tank.
I just have the hose going through the large screw on lid.

It may well be to be honest.  I assumed it was either inlet / outlet.  If it is only for tap, what do I need to close it???!!  I can just run the hose from DI to the 8inch opening, but what about closing the screw thread hole???

If I understand you right, you are using this 650 container as your static tank to fill your van from?

What kind of RO are you using?

Have you got the filling time under control?

What container are you filling into in your vehicle?

You could get a gas fitting from a plumbing supplier or something like that, they do end stops, measure the diameter you need.

Or easier........

It will probably fit half inch hozelock, so get the right fittings to use that as your outlet feed to your transfer pump into the van.

I think you need to explain what you are trying to set up a bit clearer if you want specific help on here.

I have a static tank 650 lts on the shed which will be filled from RO and DI also in the shed.  I am using this 650 lt tank as an IBC.  This may have been a mistake but that's what I've gone and done.

I will need to transfer pure water from 650lts tank to 400 lts tank in the van.

As I will need to pump water from 650 lt to 400 ltr I will need a sub pump.  Or could I fit connection from screw thread to pump??  Or would it be better to get an end stop and use sub pump???

If you can get an end stop that would be best, because a sub pump will fill your 400l tank fast.  Just check the thread on that 650l and try plumbing/engineering/gas fitters.  Or ask the suppliers of the tank to source you one they're usually helpful like that.

In case you didn't know that is your outlet normally.

i would close the hole with some fitting, use some pfte tape around it too, to seal it properly, as for a static you dont really need an outlet at the bottom to gravity feed anywhere, though my ibc is 100ltr with a tap at the bottom,  and i use this petrol pump but sub pumps are good.
 You can get a decent petrol water pump from Aldi's £100 that will pump 650ltr per minute... with a hose through the lid and delivery hose so your van tank will be full in 45 seconds ish..

though sub pumps are quite good.
