hi there

i would remove the word HOPE

if you are serious about geting into business, and it doesnt matter what business.

you need to define your potential market place, some people will advise domestice others will say commercial, there are benefits and pitfalls on both sides.

you need to ideally write a business plan, irrespective of whether you are seeking finance from a bank or not.

put down in writing your start up costs, and then you need to work to that budget, calculate what you need o earn, per month, that will then drive your required sales levels.

decide whether you are going to be a trading as, or a limited company, register with the IR , if limited company then reg at companies house, get the bank account sorted.

and then get on the phone to potential supplies, there are janitorial suppliers in most places these days, build a relationship with them, to neg a discount structure.

so youve got a lot to do, but dont just sit down one day and think, OH I WILL START A CLEANING COMPANY,

plan it and make life easier for yourself.

therefore take away the HOPE factor

regards

martin

So I have changed my to general cleaning  and thinking doing domestic then move on to  commercia and see how it goes.

Your domestic customers will be expecting commitment, it is a long winded and soul destroying task finding a cleaning company that ypu like and trust so people wont be pleased if you disapper...whatever you decide to do you simply MUST project commitment (not to mention a full understanding of domestic housekeeping) in order to convinbce people that you are serious. There is a huge difference between window cleaning, domestic cleaning, and commercial cleaning. I am interested as to why you have picked the cleaning industry at all. What experience do you have?

Good luck with your new venture. We started our domestic cleaning business just over twelve months ago and decided not to go into commercial cleaning  because of the time it takes for them to pay and also there is always the possibility of not getting paid from large companies. If you need any specific advice on anthing you can always email us at houseproudcleaning@btinternet.com. I wish we had had someone to run things by when we started.

To me The Big Question is where are you going to find your customers.

How will you get them to use you.

How many do you need to pay your bills

what are you going to live on meanwhile

Where will you recruit staff.

Can you clean to a high standard.

How thick of skin  do you have when dealing with complaints and difficult customers.
