Vomit treated with disinfectant
« on: December 04, 2007, 04:52:53 pm »
Hi All

Call from custy asking me to deal with a sick stain as advised by her insurers.

She has used a vax on it + for lots of disinfectant. Happened on ~Friday and smell is strong but when I asked about discolouration she said that now you come to mention it there is a green tinge to it ~(same colour as disinfectant). Explained that as long as backing has'nt been breached there is a good chance I can neutralise smell but not sure about green stain. Any ideas? (tis 80/202 twist, hessian backed)

sounds like your as busy as me Pete . shouldn't you be out doing 10 jobs a a day { like everyone on here}. rather than worrying about a little disinfecant stain

I notice a hint of sarcasm in your voice there Mr Gregory.

Had nowt on Mon or today and 4 little ones tomorrow and this is one of them so I can't afford to run away and not sure if I would anyway.

These things are treatable as long as the backing has not been breached but the disinfectant stain is what concerns me. Any offers?

So are you taking bookings for March as well John? ;D ::)

I realised where it was aimed mate so don't worry, and like you I'm not ashamed about struggling, takes more of a man to admit that than to do the opposite.

Anyway, any ideas re disinfectant?

Green colouring may just rinse out with a suitable detergent. However more likely to be permanent if she's messed about with it this much, probably used red hot water as well. The insurance company will expect you to try and remove the stain but not to go on and on. If it doesn't shift, measure the carpet, describe the type, fibre, backing etc and try and get some idea of cost, sometimes custy remembers or might have the receipt. Put this all down in writing, preferably printed, give to customer and charge between £55-85 for the privelege.

Hi Pete

John is spot on , attempt to clean it , I would flush with Pureclean first and then if green stain persists try to see if it is pH sensitive, dab with acid rinse.

Also worth trying rust eraser and a reducing bleach but if no success then compile a report and charge 80 pounds.

Cheers

Cheers

Did it today and came up trumps. The smell was enough to make you pass out but I applied our friend clensan at 10-1 ratio and put 4 litres down (don't panic, it was a needle punch) left it for 20 mins and rinsed. Even the green came out. Custy was well pleased and gave me a tip.

There you go, a little bit of effort and a customer for life, plus many referals too. ;)
But shame on you for not using Uncle Nicks kit  ;D
