I sell a 40" RO membrane that will produce 4 LPM with the help of the right 12V Pump
How much? Let me guess, over 1000 quid! Luke

The membrane itself is $500.00US.  Housing is $250.00US
thats very cheap, as the $ is crap against the £ at the mo

My tds at home is 34, so I leave the house with a tank full of 500ltrs. I get to the job and when my tank reaches a third I put the hose in and start to fill up at the job. I wont be using DI all year round, just 6 times a year at this job, Luke

As it is just an occasional job, it will save you all the hassle and set up costs just to stick with DI as usual.  If this job became a monthly job or you took on more work in the area, it would be worthwhile using an RO System.  What you could think about is having a portable RO System to use on the go, something like a Merlin or a compact 40/40 on a trolley that you could put in your vehicle, plug in when you get to the job and let it fill your tank whilst you work.  On reasonable pressure (+60 psi) a Merlin should produce enough water to keep up with two workers and the same goes for a 40/40.

O.K. you asked Luke so here we go.

1 x 40 ich RO housing
1 x 40 inch low pressure membane
1 x 10 or 20 inch housing with sediment pre-filter
1 x 10 or 20 inch housing with carbon filter.
The sequence is: sediment filter... carbon filter.. RO inlet

Your RO will have 2 outlets.. one watse and one product. The waste needs to be piped outside to a drain of some sort. The product in your cae would go direct into ur tank.

OK thats the basic bit now if u want an auto cut off u will need a solenoid inline BEFORE ur RO coulped to a circuit breaking float valve in ur tank. Preferably one that fits into the top of ur tank. U will need to provide power to the solenoid.. normally 12v dc so ur system battery can do this. U will need an on/off switch to power the solenoid. To fill u switch the power on to the solenloid which then opens to let the water into ur RO system then when ur tank is full the curcuit breaking float valve will turn the power off to the solenoid so that it closes and wont let water in..... still fancy an RO system Luke?  lol  :)

I think I'll stick to my DI, its cheaper to convert my trailer to carry a 300ltr tank for extra water than to buy all that stuff!! but thanks for all the help people, much appreciated, Luke
