Did you not cover paint removal in your extensive training. Just in case you did'nt, Prochem have a good paint remover, but, it's expensive in use.

you can ignore arrogance , or you can respond to it....................I was offering good advice from my limited knowledge and experience and that first comment, was polite compared to some.

The Prochem product is for gloss paint removal from carpets and it works, but as I said it's expensive in use, unless the paint is in small areas.
I used it on a spill where a can of gloss had been knocked over, it worked, but took a while and a lot of product.

Woodbridge have a product in their impact range but it costs £46 for 5 litres and the smell is a bit strong.

The woodbridge product is a very good solvent that is excellent also for the removal of head grease stains on upholstery, but as Ian says very expensive.

The Woodbridge product would actually work out cheaper pro rata, as the Prochem one is around £20 for about less than a litre.

Tony if you stand your machine outside and use an extra length of vac hose you could filter some of the smell outside when the vac is turned on.

Paint stripper will melt plastic. If it is a Nylon, Polyester or Polypropylene carpet then you could cause irreversible damage. It can also damage your hoses and machine.
Eggshell paint is not as robust as either gloss or emulsion. Treatment with standard solvents such as pog or citrus gel may actually remove with a little help from a blunt scraper.
Failing this the propretory products mentioned are designed for the job.

Hi Guys
Paints are made to be chemically resistant so anything which will soften them is going to be aggressive.
Some of the more powerful solvents contain dichloromethane which is a known carcinogen.
If there is a lot of paint I would'nt touch it, afterall if the guy has painted all round the skirting board then he obviously wasn't bothered.
Cheers
Doug
