i shove a piece of wire through mine . do you by any chance use a inline filter on your pump .
You don't have to remove the breather caps. I'd leave it charging for 24 hours on a trickle charger.Was it an Universal or an X-Tel 24 ft?
often they need charging about every 2 weeks to maintain full power.
