used my brodex alum 25ft prolong for the first time yesterday,very well made and looks as though it will last a fair old time,and it looks quite cheap to replace the tube sections should i need to,but still not sure i bought the right pole,seemed very heavy,arms were aching a bit.maybe a hybrid would have been a bit lighter? still it came with a free predator pole so not a bad deal at all

anyone else using these ?

Out of interest what does it weigh?

I have used the 30ft Pro-Long for a brief while but did not have my scales on me (!) to accurately measure the weight. I was able to make an assessment of how they ranked in the weight league but not an exact weight.

I would agree the pole is going to last twice if not three times longer than a GF pole and what I did is put the new vikan brush head on (red one) and the thin black tube and for me its just as light or even lighter - so I am over the moon with my Prolong

Sorry to off topic regarding the weight issue,but the clamps on one of my prolongs had been damaged so i posted back to brodex on thursday and received it back today with all new clamps on.A great service didnt have to replace them on all the sections but they did,regarding the weight i use a 25ft prolong all day for tops and bottoms and my arms dont get tired.

The preditor pole isvery good too, I've cut mine down to 2 1/2 foot so it can be use on the ground floor and has still got the exstensions so it can reach the high winds on ground floor....

What is the average height of your work?  If you do mainly 2 story stuff you would have been better off with an 18'.  I've got one and it's the dog's b******s.  I have a 34ft x-tel for the odd higher bit, between these two I can do any job on my customer base.

I have the Brodex brochure in front of me. The 30month warranty on the Pro-Long only covers 'manufacturing defects **'. The small print then reads '** Does not cover wear & tear..'

So if you 'wear' the pole out in this time it is not covered.

I have a 25ft pro long its a good pole but it has downsides like length of sections and weight. Whatever you do DO NOT get the gooseneck with it. Instead order a Gardiners gooseneck and you will have a nice pole. The Brodex gooseneck doesnt have a standard thread so you can't fit other types of brushes  . Replace the hose with lighter pvc/silicon hose. Luke

From our current stock the 24ft X-Tel hybrid has to be the best pole in its class. If you asked me this next year I would say the new SL-X.

What are the saddleback clamps like now, we tried them a couple of years ago and had nothing but problems with them snapping all the time especially when it was really cold.

What is the life expectancy of these poles, again I'm finding CF and GF poles are only lasting us about 6 months before the top sections are badly worn through.

We haven't had a customer break one yet (600 poles down the line).

We have been using a pre-production SL-X for about 7 months now. We have used it every single day over this time making sure that it was always is use. The only part that wore out in this time was the end cap! (we've now changed the plastic used in the end caps). Even the top section is showing virtually no wear, just a little scuffing.

I am confident with my type of use that it will last me at least three years. Some people are harder on their equipment than others (one person has worn out a hybrid top section in under three months!! He does get through an awesome amount of work though, 7 days a week) so for these people I could not say the same. For those very careful users (not me!) who manage to make a Universal last three years, I would imagine 5-6 years being easily possible.

All of these timescales are just my personal thoughts and obviously cannot be relied on completely.
