Hello,

My woodbridge pro mount 20 truckmounts done nearly 800 hrs now so i am thinking of changing the water pump belt BEFORE it breaks.

Anyone had to do this and is it a difficult job ?

Hi Chris,

I've got a panther 27 and when I had it fitted at woodbridge they added a spare pump belt but tie wrapped it back out of the way for an easier fit incase the original one broke.

I'm not sure if your machine is laid out the same as mine but watching and talking to the engineer when mine was fitted you might have to remove the heat excahgers for access. Then unbolt the engine and slide it forward, disconnect the blower drive shaft (at the rubber gator) then you could fit the new belt.

Straight forward enough but I have watched it being done so easy for me to say.

If you're confident doing it yourself then go for it, if not pop to woodbridge and they'll do it for you. You can always watch so you know how to do it again in the future!

Depends on your technical ability, I haven't done it myself (yet) and I'm no expert but am learning every day and will do this myself when needed.

These machines are easy to work on, if you dont want to attempt it pay someone who can do it for you, better to be safe than sorry!

Whats to say they need changing at 800 hrs! If the pump belt does go while working will it cause any damage? I dont think so, apart from disrupting the job!

As long as you can sort the problem resonably quickly I cant see any difference than a pump or vac going on a porty and being able to replace on the job.

If you have another belt tied up in reserve as I do, doing a running repair whilst on a job shouldnt take any longer than replacing a component on a porty (10/15 mins max)

Not having one in reserve will take a lot longer!

          Im the same as jason i had a spare belt cable tied in place.Mine broke on a job put spare on in minutes.To replace the spare just in case it went again took about a hour.Poned john ellmore at woodbridge went through it with me bit by bit.To put one on now half an hour easy.Only thing was back hurting got a vivaro.

it was a post that you made about your belt breaking at about 800hrs that got me wondering if I should replace mine now, before it goes ?

Yes i have a spare belt in place, ready to go. With never having done one before i would prefer to take my time, rather than rush it on a job.
