Lost Broadband
« on: October 29, 2004, 08:40:40 pm »
I have lost my broadband for 2 weeks, I moved On the 1st Oct and kept my number but BT never transfer my broadband account. I have been on line unknowingly using someone elses acoount how i wish i knew as i been using my username and pawword.  I now have to re order it and wait 10 working days. I have spent over 2 hours on the phone today talking to 11 different people . I think i will now go to another provider.  Has anyone got a good word to say about any other provider.    Paul

Have a look here http://www.adslguide.org.uk/

I've been looking to get broadband and will probably get it from plusnet, http://www.plus.net/info2/residential/res_broadband.html
they seem to be one of the better ones according to message boards.

Paul,
Are you still in St Ives or are you somewhere now with a bigger population (and more potential customers)?

We've never had any problems with BT but did with NTL.
I could moan all day about NTL but I'll just say that the customer service is non-existent, the manners of the staff are poor, the accounts dept' muck up big time and they are completely incompetent.

John

Glad to hear a good word for NTL...when I considered Broadband I heard of so many horror stories of fouled up systems using NTL I discounted them from the outset

I stuck with AOL...better the devil etc.... worked for me

Cheers

Hi John,

I suppose there had to be somebody somewhere who was satisfied with NTL.

Personally, I though NTL stood for Nobody here Try Later ;D

Not funny though when you spend 45 minutes on hold and then get cut off everyday for a week. The only way I got in touch with them was by writing and it took ages. >:(

Hope you don't encounter problems and need customer services

Hi Paul

BT did the same to me passed from one department to another then back to the begining again every time having to explain the whole story over and over again, they are completely useless and this after they cut my service off and then wanted me to pay to have it put back on again and wait 10 days for them to do it.

In the end I booked them in to just to waste their time   but arranged for NTL to come and install it, which they did with in two days free of charge.I then allowed BT to turn up  and had great pleasure in telling them to **** off as I already have it from NTL.They then rang me half a dozen times and I kept putting them on hold and passing them to another department ;D (of course I didn't have one it was me all the time) and  got them to tell me the story over and over again from the begining only to put them back on hold then cut them off.
It was great fun until they gave up.

I have been on AOL broadband for a few years now and only had one connection problem which was sorted out very quickly by AOL. I can refer you to them and they will send you an introductory CD or you can phone 0800 376 4406 and get one from there

good luck

Never had a problem with BT using their equipment, which is supported, did contact NTL for full package what a thick bunch they are!  One box at my end of road another one at the bottom and used by neighbours who are not that happy, it would take three week to advise me, six weeks later still no joy, it may be my area but a lot friends have changed back.

Not a lot of difference between them and us.
