Hi guys,
today has been a nightmare day.
told my custy`s in august that i was on hols during september, so i might miss them,
went on my rounds today, 19 custys, only to be told by one she had them done by, lets call him STD, last week, bo11ocks i thought put that one in the bin, then went to another one and she come running out saying she had them done last week by STD, right p1ssed off now, i spent ages on her first clean last time and she knew i had gone on hols,
then i get home after doing a custy house this morn,and a letter through the door to say she dont want her windows done any more, yep you guessed it, STD doing them.
now this gezza has just started up again and has targeted my rounds , no one elses, they were old custy`s of his that he let down big time last year,
im now dreading the rest of the month because i dont know what else he has got, i hate two faced people, and these custy`s are cause they slagged him off last year when they asked me to do em,
what makes it worse is STD is in the fire service with me, so i cant go punching his lights out,
help guys, before i kill someone,
oh and he is trad, and im WFP.

Hi mate,

I would go and have a word with the guy if I would you. I don't mean shout and scream but just ask him what he is playing at. If he has already let these customers down there is a good chance he will do it again. I bet your phone will ring soon enough mate!

Have your customers  left you just for missing a month's cleaning?  If so then this is very unusual, especially if you told them beforehand you would be away.

It is more likely that they are not convinced about WFP cleaning over ladders and if someone offers them the option they will go with what they are comfortable with.

It could also be price?

Find out the facts as to why they have left you, then you can do something about it, everyone is entitled to a holiday and under normal situations 99% of people would be more than understanding.

You either work in a callous area, or there's some other reason for them to leave you.

i would not put up will that what so ever. id go round and tell him straight away. that makes my blood boil. 
there is plenty of work for everyone so why target your round?!

sounds to me they was not happy with you work, I could be wrong so dont get offended, if you took the guys customer from him in the first place you cant say jack to be honest what goes around comes around as they say. If you are worried about your customers I would go round there one night and speak to them, just to say you are back from holiday and will be round in ....., I could be just a handful have gone back to him and there is not much you can do about that. More than likely hes charging less, and to be honest again these customers are not worth having anyway as they will leave the guy again they have already shown no loyalty to him or you. Go and get some leaflets out and pick up some new work.

simon.. been through this before on here, no im a w/c full time and a retained fire fighter, part time, when im called.

Lion, i wish i could say it was the wfp system, but its not, most of them are bungalows, do them trad. he must of under cut me, for the sake of 50p let him have em.

window washer.... i didnt nick his round, he hadnt done it for 6-8mths, there was a market out there when me and bod started up. and ive been doing them, they knew i was on hols, so i dont need to tell them again, for a year now, so i cant say its my workmanship,windows are spotless when i do em. they were told i was on hols so why go tell em, im back, as you say ive lost them and nowt i can do about it. cheers for your feedback anyway, i am going to target a new area tomorrow, and ive already spoken to other window cleaners to make sure it aint there area, just means if i go out of our village/town, the fire engine will most probably be off the run, hey ho , i cant help that, window cleaning is my primary job and pays the bills.

Haydn I rember your post about being a firefighter, my sis-laws other half does the same as you. Good on you. And good luck with getting new work, if your windows cleaning is good, you are well rid of the ones that have just left, forget and move on, if they do call back dont ignor them just put the price up by £2/£3 per house that way if they want you back you will make more money (call it unloyal customer bonus)
