Does anyone have any idea where I can buy a a decent microsplitter in the West Yorkshire area?

with postal rates as cheap as they are and given the fact that a good splitter will last you ages. get it over the phone. by just using whats on offer limits you own performance, in that if the product is no good or not as good as others your work will suffer.

products are very subjective, so you have to test to find what you like to work with. it always amazes me how some find x product great and others not so. i think the problem here is how each person works. for example some might not like dwell times so product with long ones will be no good for these people.

What would you reckon to be a poor Microsplitter ? As Ian H says, it's the person and how the person uses the product that matters.

Who do you buy from at the moment, what do you use, have you asked if they stock or can get an m/s product for you,

Even in the Highlands of Scotland it's possible to get Craftex, or Chemspec, or Prochem, or even stuff from Cornwall all on Next Day delivery.

Why would you go to the trouble getting something from Cornwall when you have Highland Spring on your doorstep- and cheaper too.

Personally, I don't buy from Cornwall and don't live in the Highlands, but have used m/s's since they first appeared.

I can't imagine the West Yorkshire area has fewer distributors than the West of Scotland although I must admit they are a pretty anonymous bunch and you have to track them down !

Hi Jaybee,

Try looking in yellow pages for cleaning supplies or searching on net in your area if you want to pick up straight away. As mentioned before most suppliers will get supplies to you next day if orders put in by a certain time.

I wanted to try out M/S on a carpet I already had booked in and compare the results to my current procedure. The carpet was booked in for the following day so therefore I didn't have time to get some delivered hence my question about stockists in my locallity.

Not many spoiled children go shopping for microsplitters do they?

Just did a basic search and found Scott Janitorial 01535 607335 who stock Prochem, who have at least one M/S product, they are based in West Yorkshire.

It's what we do as a forum, if you read the posts from Jaybee you will find him quite an interlect, there once was another 'loose cannon' on these forums called Ron AKA jackyl (unfortunately not with us anymore) and he was and extrovert but the amount of knowledge in sales and cleaning was fantastic as he saw things from a different perspective.

If you read all of my posts you will find I stick up for everyone that says something meaningful and good, that is where I can get good knowledge from and where I find friends. They don't have to be local because I have never spoken to jaybee but I have met Robert Carpet Guy from Scotland and Paul Moss from Wales so it's not an old pals act, I just don't want to drive people away from this board.

They gave me advice because they were being helpful - that's what forums are about, sharing knowledge for the greater good of all. For instance, when the day comes where you want to progress from cleaning carpets with dirty water aka CFR I am sure that you will find good advice here as to what to progress to.

Is Sherlock ( Ron ) no longer with us?  I frequently agreed with his comments and upset a number of others by doing so ( they moved to another place from which I got red carded )
Ron was a man who lived by his convictions which resulted from a great deal of practical experience. Definitely NOT a sheep or follower of trends and in my opinion someone who deserved respect for not only having " talked the talk, but having walked the walk "
