Use a caravan hot water system, provides endless amounts of hot water for showers etc, and a bottle of gas lasts me ages.

And it won't cost you no where near a grand.

I have to disagree with you there jeff (without me doing any proper research :-[)

So please prove me wrong!! ;D

But........ I was under the impression that these caravan/motorhome systems have tanks about 10L-16L and use gas to heat them?

But...... Most of them take 15-20mins to heat up to 70 degrees and if your using it for a big job the cold water will be feeding the tank as you use it and will not get a chance to heat up fully???

I may be wrong?? :-[

It would be ok on a small house where you would only use 10-16L of water to clean it and drive 20 mins to the next job and by then it's heated up and ready to use again.

Or is there a caravan/motorhome 12v gas water heater that heats it instantly as you use it?

Hi Matt
The system in my caravan is a carver,(can't remember the model number) if I jump in the shower it takes seconds to heat up, I can spend 20 minutes in there, and then the boss jumps in (not at the same time I might add ;D there's no room ;D ;D) I can tell you, it stays hot all the time without any cold spots.
My caravan is stored about 6 miles away, so if I remember next week, I'll pop in and get the model number, but the more modern ones are even better (i believe)

And to top it all I  think the one I have, is only a 9ltr one? again this I will have to check,
but No way on this earth does mine take 15-20 minutes to warm up to a decent temprature, it is instant.

If you have the time, do some research and you should find even better ones than I have.
You would not be able to travel to your next Job while it heats up, I think its Illegal to travel with the gas burner switched on and in operation, you can't even have the pilot light alight while travelling and this is why you switch to battery when travelling.

Cheers Jeff.

I know about the carver heaters.

My girlfriends dad has a brand new 6 berth motorhome and has always had caravans etc.

Even in his new one he has to turn the water heater on and wait 15-20min until it heats up. Its a 16L tank he has.

Im confused!!!

The max temp for a Flojet 100psi is 60 degrees so you should not heat the water past that, the 35/40 psi is 40 degrees.
If you use 4mmID microbore it wont take as much heating ?

Me too  ;D
If mines faulty then its been faulty for four years now :o  and it gets serviced every year?
I'll also check it out to see if its mains/battery operated. (I don't think it is though)

If your girlfriends dads is mains, then it should be instant without a doubt.
The modern ones are like the boilers for gas central heating, how long do you have to wait for hot water out of your tap?? just a few seconds and thats how long I have to wait for my shower or hot water in the sink.

60 degrees is very hot any way you wouldnt sit in a bath with water that hot.

Instantanious gas heaters are very popular now, Just glancing through the new screwfix catalouge and there is one in there.  (for home use)

I think caravan store would know a lot more than I do on the subject.

think you'll find most caravans use 12v 10amp elec. to power the water heater. I've never heard any boiler power up when I turn on the hot water

Why does mine work when not connected to battery or mains? just the gas, also has a pilot light window the same as the fridge.

No Idea Matt, to run all day from a battery, you would need a bank of batteries, for a days work.

We have been selling various models since 2000 Andrews sells them on our behalf The setup for them works as follows :- You run the hose pipe to the area you are going to work and connect the heater between your pole and the feed hose pipe, in this way you dont get any drop in temprature, that would happen if you were running the hot water through a hose pipe from your van along the cold ground.
Hot water does make a very big difference when cleaning bird muck, or first cleans.
From October we may well begin to rent them out, as other trades we deal with have requested this.

The propane is a very efficent heating source and burns hotter than camping gas so the system is very efficent.
For the ultimate heating system though our deisel powerd unit is the most efficent and is regulated to operate at 60 degrees so their is no chance of overheating.

We can supply you a DIY set up, it would be wise to get an auto electrician to do the wiring, and care must be taken in fitting the exhaust system to ensure no gases return into the vehicle.
