Why not mate?

I've lost literally dozens due to wfp.
A lot of people don't like it.

Why not take advantage of being trad?

Dozens?  I find that astonishing.  I reckon I probably lost a dozen at most.  It seems that no matter how well you explain it or how well you market it, there will always be at least a few dissenters.
Do you have a very high proportion of elderly people on your round Rog?  They often take a bit more convincing.  Also, I found that the more I tried to explain things, the more it must have seemed like I was lying (methinks he doth protesteth too much  :)  ) .  In the end I just said that I wouldn't spend x thousands of pounds on something that didn't work and left it at that.  I also said to some of them that some of my customers think I work this way in order to annoy them.  I then add that if I REALLY wanted to annoy them, I don't have to spend thousands of pounds to do it as I am quite capable of doing it free of charge.  It got them laughing sometimes anyway.

Oops!!  I never responded to the original post.  I would say that as long as you aren't going out there to try and undercut someone or to slag off the opposition then fair play to you.  Keep away from mine though, won't you?   :)

I do have a lot of old bags.
I always said when I was trad that my customers wouldn't like it.

It turned out a fairly accurate prediction.
90% of those that cancelled had no good reason. I'd done a great job.
They just didn't like the idea of it.

I also think a lot of them don't like the fact that you're obviously quicker and have an easier job, yet they still pay the same.
Thing is they're paying for the result.
If I've spent a lot of money on a machine which does it quicker, then good for me.

I know what you mean about trying to convince them too much.

You almost feel like a conman after a while don't you? ;D

I know what you mean Rog.  I spent thousands of pounds to con my customers.  Some of them really seem to think that too.
What I've found is that the more I get used to WFP, the more relaxed I am about using it.  I am also more relaxed about explaining it and don't overdo it now.  That does seem to work better.  I think people sense if you're comfortable and confident with how you work.

Expect a bit of hassle from some customers.  Expect a few cancellations.  Expect not to do such a great job on some jobs over the first clean or two.

But also expect your income to rise, the quality of your work to become acceptable in a fairly short time, and to gain some quality work that was closed to you when working by ladder.

we just treat it like its a normal tool, if the customer sees you getting all defensive and explaining too much they will ask more questions and become offensive. If you just treat it like a squeegee and dont bat an eyelid yourself the customers dont. If they ask give them a good and kind explanation. Luke

I had this from some when i switched.

I had two groups when i switched, the rude & insuling one & the others that was conviced trad was better.
The ones that switched to a trad cleaner because the were convinced that was better, now they have seen the results of wfp on their neigbours alot are back with me. The ones that were rude or insulting the trad cleaner can keep.

Mogy, who told you about these people that are not happy with WFP? so many times we have heard "my frend lives at so & so and they haven't had a wc round there for years" when you investigate it sometimes tunrs out that you have just been fooled. Go and have a look, maybe leaflet, but check out the standard of the wfp first, maybe this area are just whingers and would moan about trad as much as wfp :)
