Why unprofessional...music keeps me entertained whilst performing a very mundane and very often boring task....obviously having it so loud that I would not hear someone talking to me at a normal distance would be a tad silly....but unprofessional....hardly.

Just another tool to get through the day.

Dave.

I think it looks un proffesional to listen to music. i think customers want to know that your attention is on the job at hand

At the end of the day we are cleaning windows not performing brain surgery.  If you are right by a really busy main road or street perhaps but when you are stood on someones patio squeegeeing their conservatory door wheres the problem??? ???

I say this as I work with my wife 3 days a week so If I can listen to music instead of her then all the better.
Even when the batteries are dead I leave the head phones in.

What if my headset that is for my phone (handsfree) and it plays music and once a call is recieved switches to phone until conversation is over then reverts back to music...?

I clean my equipment, polish my boots each day....turn up when I say and do the very best job I can....but nowadays as long as something looks the part it seems to baffle the masses...Take your former prime minister for instance... ;D

Sorry to spoil it for you music lovers, but not only is it unprofessional to have music blaring either via headphone or other but also it's dangerous.

The trick is to put the earphones in your ears and not in your eyes.

Got to admit im a fan of Talksport and FiveLive myself as it makes the ol brain tick.

But I do find music can do a lot for the ol motivational side of things.

Style over substance....Exactly what difference do you think the wearing of earphones makes...

Many professions use earphones/headsets for communication both RX/TX and are able to do complex things at the same time...fly spaceships, planes, fight wars...lets also stop the listening of music in cars....get real.

Unprofessional please explain the difference between 'headphones & my phone hands free'....

small radio from argos,FM/mw/lw-£19.99.Keep in front pocket of trousers, thread earphone cable under shirt & kept in place by pouch belt.Switch to mono & keep just one earpiece in.Listen to Radio 2 all day, volume just high enough to hear but not too loud to drown out people talking etc.Not at all dangerous or unproffessional & been doing it 20 years-stops me going more goofy than I am already. 8)

Anything that can help make window cleaning less boring has to be a good thing! and music is great for keeping me motivated and helps keep me going through the day. We are window cleaners at the end of the day and the customers don't give a sh*t if we are listening to music or not as long as their windows are cleaned!! ;)
