Hi Dude  ;D
I'm having no problems with it and I enjoy using it, infact my others are redundant, as you may of seen by my previous topic you can use it all day long and the boss with her illness had no problems at all.

I'm sure if there was a call back on them, my supplier would have told me there was a problem with them......all the locking clamps still operate perfectly with no problems, the pole sections still move in and out freely, so all in all, the pole is excellent.......Let us know how you get on with yours, at the moment I think there is only about 2 of us with them in use..(don't quote me on that ;D)

News to me Rob,
I do know the suppliers sold out of there stock pretty fast, perhaps Alex's could enlighten us to why there was/is a delay with them.

I'll also put a post on the Training Academy and get a response from a couple of suppliers on there?

According to Exel, the manufacturers, some of the first batches of these poles were supplied with the incorrect length overlap, 100 mm instead of 250 mm.  This could in certain circumstances allow a pole to snap. This is why they have had to recall the next batch to rectify the problem.  This has led to a delay in receipt of the second batch of X-Tel poles.

The X-Tel pole is a telescopic pole and is available in Glass Fibre, Hybrid and Carbon Fibre types. The Super-Lite pole is a modular pole system made of Carbon Fibre.

Hi Alex
What would be the correct length of the 34' Hybrid pole when extended, if the pole is of the correct length??

Can you add sections to the X-tel as you can the superlite poles and whats the price differences between them at various heights.

What pole would you recommend if the majority of the high work is at 35' but would like the option to go up to 60'-70'

We will have to wait until we receive them to find out.  We will then measure them accurately.

You cannot add extra sections to the X-tel poles.  If you want to do this, then you really only have two options.

Option 1.  Go down the modular route (Super-Lite 2, fishing pole, Unger Carbon Tec).
Option 2.  Buy a 60 ft Facelift and take sections off. The down side of this is that the sections are 8 ft long.

The superlite poles are not, or don't you do them anymore?

We have an all new Super-Lite 2 being released to the market in July. If you are thinking about getting a modular pole or even converting your own fishing pole, it is well worth waiting until we release it.

We are hoping to release it in two versions:  the DIY version for people that like to convert their own fishing poles and the full Super-Lite package.  Approximate prices:  DIY Kit about £320 for 40 ft,  Full Version about £400 for 40 ft.  Extensions will be available to take it as high as you are prepared to go.  These will cost about £47 per 5'3".

alex would this not explain the whippyness in the xtel poles, that everyone has been talking about,
i have heard folk say only use  85% of each pole section, not fully extended, to make the pole stiffer,
maybe some folk already have in there  Possesion  a poles with 100mm overlap and they have not
been recalled,

So, hypothetically I can get a 61' pole for 588?

Is this complete with brush and everything?

As you know Im looking to bring one over the pond and give it a whirl.

Thanks.

HI Jouk,

The X-Tel fibre glass poles are slightly whippier than the Universals anyway. It may explain a little of the extra whip though. Of course the downside of the correct overlap is that you cannot reach quite as high.

U.S.

Yes that is about what it would cost for the complete retail package at 61'. If you went for the DIY package it would be even cheaper.

We are looking forward to being able to retail them, as they are so much more than just a converted fishing pole. They should be able to offer the best of both worlds to the user. We are just awaiting the final logo details and legal protection to be in place and then they will be on sale.

Yes that is right, they are a lot less whippy with the right overlap. It's also why some companies were stating different lenghts for a pole saying it was longer than it actually should be.

It's a good idea for anyone who has recently got an X-tel to unscrew the clamp and check the overlap lenght on the first couple of sections, there is a strip of nylon tape stopping the section coming out, it should be 250mm. If it's not unwind it and move it up, job done.
