Hi Mrs Scrim ;D
Try and get into the habit of asking the custy, if it will be a regular, or as and when clean?

Just tell them if its going to be a regular clean you can do it for X number of £££......Or if its an as and when clean, then its going to cost them more (and double the price)

I had one the other day and she was humming and arrrring about how regular she wanted it done, I told her if she wanted it as and when its going to cost £100 each time .....but if she had a regular clean (every 6 weeks in my case) it would only cost her £50, she snapped my hand off at the £50 regular clean, (it was a big house)

So before you jump in to give the custy a price, take a couple of minutes out for yourself and think about it, this way you will get regular cleans at good prices.

The trouble is they don't tell you the truth so you end up getting the run around. They will say they want regular if there is a price penalty for as and when .

I had this with one last year. about a week after I had cleaned her for the first time ( and they were bad ) a for sale board went up.

When we get and enquiry our first question is: "Are you just looking for a one off clean?"

This takes them off-guard, so they're much more likely to say "yes" if that's the case.  If they say "Oh no, I want someone regular" you know where you stand.

If they do say "yes" we say " Our prices for one-off start at £50"

That usually ends the conversation ;D

Cheers,

Ian

hahaha

Ian i do the same! ask if they are looking for a regular service but what tends to happen is they say yes! i want a regular service.. then you turn up to give a price and they have a for sales sign outside! only end up getting cleaned about 3 times then thats it!!

Of course you could try and nab the people moving in but most will bring there own window cleaner as i ask when my customers move! etc

I do the same as Ian and catch them off guard first by asking if it's a one off clean before I mention about regular window cleaning so that I can price accordingly. Not only that but when they quickly reply that it's not a one off clean and that they (the custy) really want a regular w/cleaner it puts your mind at ease that you're minimising your risk of being ripped off by the custy.
