Hi,

The first link you posted belongs to us and we also own the sponsored listing in Yell.com for the the more affluent north side of the city.  Not to split hairs, but i thought i would point this out.

How long has the company been established in Glasgow?

We will be sad to see you go, although we have never met.

All the best

I was getting a bit confused by this....................I understood Access was run by Graeme and was familiar with his postings on here.

This could be a bit confusing for potential buyers.

Sorry for the confusion...  Let me clarify.

I made a slight typing mistake with the web address.  Instead of carpetcleaningglasgow.co.uk   It is   carpetcleaningglasgow.com

Also with regards to the Yell.com,  I have the sponsored link for Glasgow South.  So if you search for 'carpet cleaning - Glasgow',  my business comes up top spot with Access being on the second page in the sponsored listing section.  But...

If you type in 'Carpet Cleaning - Anniesland Glasgow'  for example,  Access Cleaning will come out on top spot with my company on the second page in the sponsored listing.

The idea behind this was that when most people search on yell.com they generally just search for services in their city eg Glasgow.  When they do so my business will always come out at the top.  But if they specifically search for an area in Glasgow for eg,  it will then depend if that area comes under Glasgow North or Glasgow South.  If the area is in Glasgow North then Access Cleaning will come out on top.  Glasgow South and it will be my business 'Absolutely Clean' that will be at the top.

I hope I've explained all this properly and it makes sense.  Sorry if it came accross as misleading.

I will be sad to go but I'm sure there will be someone who will fancy taking over and running this businnes well!

Hi,

Just to finally calrify the yell thing.. for a keyword search of Glasgow, the top spot rotates.  Like stated previously, we have the north and Absolutely own the south.

How long have you been running in Glasgow?

I thought you came here in April 07.. ie 2 months ago.

Ok Gents... yes I have the .uk.com address although I have my support team trying to fix a small problem with linking it to my web page.

As for how long I've been here...  I've been down now for just under the year. I just didn't go into yell.com and the yellow pages until Apr 07.  Had been doing my own marketing with the royal mail before that.

I've brought the business down from Inverness where it has been established for 9 years now.  All work up there now is on a referral only basis as my efforts toward marketing have been focused  in Glasgow for a while now.

So do you guys know of anyone that might be interested then?

carpetguy

I f you have only been working around the Glasgow area for around 12 months, unlike many of us, who have been around for twenty years, you are extremely ambitious to think you might get more than the second hand value of the machines, etc.

For anyone to invest such a sum in this "very new"  business would be surprising, to say the least, unless of course, you have some high value contracts.

Incidentally, I have been working within the area you mention, over the past 20 years and get regular work from around Glasgow.................no advertising whatsoever.

I take your point on and value the comments.  But without trying to sound disrespectful, because I can fully appreciate how important it is to be established in an area for a while,  it doesn't matter if you have been around 20 years or just 1 in an area.  If you have good marketing tools in place, you are professional and you run a business to a very high standard then work always rolls in all year!

Thats good that you dont have to advertise.  I bet we would all like that, but if your advertising brings in 3/4 times your initial expense,  why wouldn't you advertise?  It just more money for the business.

Hi,

Just to jump on what carpetguy has said.  There was a guy who sold his CC business to Prestige services for under 5K in Jan of this year.  Fibre Clean... who stated 24k profit and sold everything including the van and the best description of a diary i have ever heard.

Thats 10% of your price and he had been here for much longer.

The link in your proflie that allows us to see your previous posts says it all.

To quote your own post in Aug of last year (http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=24182.0#msg181913)
"8 Year old Carpet, Upholstery & Hard Floor Cleaning business for sale in Inverness in Scotland"

then in Nov (http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=27900.0#msg213006)
"8 Year old Carpet, Upholstery & Tile and Grout Cleaning business for sale in Scotland"

And to quote your own site: (http://carpetcleaninginverness.co.uk/about.html)
"As of April 2007 I now have the privilege of announcing the expansion of Absolutely Clean into The West End of the city of Glasgow"

So basically this is the way I read it:
You have a business in the sticks that makes a relatively poor amount of money and cant sell it.  You move to Glasgow and hope more people notice it... you pretend to be me and then another forum member in the hope that someone buys it.

If you think for one minute that anyone with half an ounce of sense is every going to pay that amount for what you have... yer ontae plumbs mate.

Graham

I have removed the top link for you, I am sure it was a genuine mistake as placing it on here on an open forum for all to see (including yourself) would not only be totally stupid but a downright fraud and I cant believe that was the intention.

Riccardo,

I think you need to clarify the situation to not only help with your sale but also to ease the minds of people who might feel they are being misled.

I will keep looking in as will Mike and should the situation develop in a manner which we feel is not in keeping with the board the thread will be removed.

Well said Graeme.Seen it for sale on here a few times . He cant sell it in Inverness, buys a few domain names (notgotaclue.com) and takes an add out in Glasgow yellow pages and tries to make it look like he's been covering the east and west coasts . Sorry mate the words touch and barge pole seem to be what I think, and I already feel sorry for who ever falls for it . I think I can smell it from Invernesss  Rascal oops sorry Ricscal .

Ok. So to clarify the situation...   The domain link I initially put was a typing error.  No I'm not that stupid. But as I stated I do have the .com domain. It was a simple mistake.

As for what you have said graham in your last post,  I dont have to explain myself to you but I'm going to cause I dont want anyone to get the wrong idea.  So,  yes I had my business for sale in Aug last year advertised up north. Even though I DO have the figures and turnover to sell my business, because it was based in Inverness it was viewed as being a little to far out.  I went through a very messy divorce last year and the only thing I was left with that she never got anything to do with my business.

I realised that I had to increase the saleability of my business if I was going to sell it. The only way to do so was to move back home to glasgow.  So I started marketing last year down here while still travelling up to Inverness every other week and doing all my work that I got from my marketing and referals.

My advertising for the west end are did not commence until April this year as I have a contract with the royal mail and they gave me that start date. I can assure you though that I dont just advertise in the west end.

And now... I have the two areas of the country (and a little in edinburgh too) where I have the work coming in. Glasgow where I work now for 3 weeks every month, then I go to Inverness and work a slightly longer week doing my referral work and contract work for a carpet retailer and a cleaning company.  I have just got back after being up there doing a job for 6hrs Friday night and all day Saturday (11hrs).  My bill... £3000.00

My business does not make a poor amount of money and I have never pretended to be anyone on this forum.  I am not unethical.

So you guys can say what you want. Like I said, I didn't have to explain myself.  There is plenty business out there for us all.  It has disappointed me to see the type of attitudes that a couple of you have. After all we're all out just to make a good living. I hope you dont behave yourselves this way in business.

You do NOT have the .COM as I have already said, you have UK.COM ,

There is a  big difference between these 2 domains, one is good to have the other being UK.COM is not. If you click on this link www.carpetcleaningglasgow.com  you will find it goes to my site not yours. You still dont seem to understand that by saying you have the .com you are implying that you are selling my domain. Anyway good luck in your sale.

Correct!  You do have carpetcleaningglasgow.com

I hope this clears things.
