NEW MONOFILAMENT BRUSH
« on: May 30, 2007, 12:39:21 pm »
Hi all
I am looking for a new monofilament brush, i would like it to be as close to the vikan rectangular as possible in size/shape wise. It must be rectangular with very defined bristles i.e. the ends of the bristles must keep their rectangular shape well. I'm not fussy on weight or price. I love the rec' vikan, but with flocked brisstles & the state of some farm houses at this time of year it is just holding too much dirt on some jobs.
If anyone has any experience of a mono' brush that fits the bill any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

tony

I use gaz's brushes. They are monfilament. I previously used and still sometimes use the rectangular vikan which I love to bits.

The gaz brushes are the closest thing to them. They are a bit lighter though

Look at my rectangular vikan on the right of the 1st pic. Its sitting ontop of the cleantech brush which is identical to gaz's but it's flocked.

You see the blue one on the roof? Thats a mono from gaz ;)

Right.... this is a close one!

Personaly I think the yellow cleantech one is identical to gaz's brushes. But It's flocked. Although it's very good I dont think it's as strong as the rectangular vikak. It will take some beating!!!!

Thats my honest opinion

I will go out just now and take some close up pics of all the brushes I have.

missed the post, didn't realize the cleantech's were flocked.

Vikan do a mono-rectangular & it would be good to hear from anyone who has used them both (flock/mono) to see how they compare with each other.

you gotta love gaz's brushes, the new one (similar to cleantechs) is the business, a little bit heavier than the standard gaz brush but 'THEEE' best brush out there.

thanks mathew, great pics.

I had a mkI gaz swivel brush (very bottom of last pic, i think) & found it terrible for a few reasons but the mkII looks far better. also my swivel looks totally different to those in the pics, do the new ones work just as good (swivel) i.e. twist the pole & brush moves?
Mathew, in your oppinoin, which gaz brush is the closest to the vikan for bristle performance?

my swivel is on my vikan at the moment & works ok.

thanks

Right tony,

I never used the first type of swivel but I've heard that the ones i have are better. You just apply a bit of pressure on the glass and twist the pole to get it to swivel. Works well.

Now..... you want to know what is the closest gaz brush to the vikan?
Well....... I would say the blue one is the closest. Thats a medium bristle monofilament brush. It's slightly softer than my vikan. But to get a exact match you would need a brush in between the top left brush (hard bristle) and the top right brush (medium bristle)  in the bottom picture

Hope that helps.

Cheers I'll give him a bell.

Clear Vision have you ever used the 2 jetted 12" tuff brush. Plan on giving it a try on con roofs.
