i apologise for my comments earlier i just hate it when trad posts are strated and they end up being turned into wfp . didnt mean to attack or offend anybody and again i apologise that my profesionalism let me down !
Now that take a man and a professional, welcome to the forum, but don't forget you will always get the wfp point thrown in to any trad topics, many of us had the same thing happen when we were trad W/C. ;)

I have a funny feeling the ones on here who think they are smart and wide will go out of business then who will be laughing

How does everyone feel about window cleaners moving in on their area and under cutting them to steal their customers. I personally feel that this is ok, would understand someone doing it to me and would have no problem doing it to anyone as i feel that is only fair in business and should be expected.

well if we go by your rules and we all undercut each other, most of us will be out of business, or we might be cleaning houses for 5 quid a pop  ::) ::) and the customer will be the only 1's laughing

Hi Leee,

This may not be what you're looking for, and I don't know if you use a car or van but I use a car and wedge my bucket in the rear drivers side footwell so that it doesn't spill. I also put a bin liner on the floor so if it overspills it doesn't soak my mats! All my scrims + pockets + sill cloths just go on the back seat.

I really dislike gutter and fascia cleaning so tend to price it high, but haven't been refused as yet. If they just want the soffits + fascias cleaning I'll charge about £2-£2.50 a meter and pace out the distance roughly. If they're after the gutters clearing aswell I'll add another quid onto that. For bungalows maybe £1-£1.50 a meter.

Hope this helps...

Chris

hi there

what solution do you use / i use unger liquid

how much do you put in and how much water goes in your bucket im finding im using liquid to fast am i utting to much in or should i use less water ?

cheers

leee

Well the only question that gives a clue about whether he uses trad or WFP is the last one.  Even then it's not conclusive because I use a bucket and detergent on some jobs even though I use WFP as my main method.

So, going by memory from when I was trad cleaning my answers are as follows:-

1. Storing equipment.
The bucket and hand tools I used to put in the passenger footwell.  I used a rectangular bucket so it wouldn't fall over.  I kept the water level quite low so that it wouldn't slop about.  You can lay a scrim on top of the water to help prevent this too.  In the back (I had a van) I laid a carpet piece on the floor to help prevent sliding.  I used plastic containers for various bits and pieces to make it easier for things not to get mixed up with each other.

2. Gutter cleaning
It depends on how accessible the gutter/facia is.  I never really charged enough for these anyway.  Make sure you have a thick plastic sack so that the gutter rubbish won't leak through (double bag it if necessary).  I avoid these jobs now but the meter charging mentioned before looks OK.

3.  Detergent.
I think Fairy Liquid is the best if you've no intention of using WFP on the glass in the near future.  It has pleanty of slip - unlike some of the other detergents.  Don't use to much though or you may leave smears.
