Hi all,

does anyone know if a 40 psi pump situated in the shurflo backpack, would be able to power a van mount system for one man, if i took it off and attached it to a flat tank in the van?

are they the same pump? but less power?.

any help i would be grateful.

Would really suggest you invest in 100psi for van You,ll be ammazed at ho much faster you will work,invest a little extra and fit a vari flow to help save water and battery power

do you control the flow from the van..... as on the backpack i simply wash and rinse frames on No.1... and wash rinse glass on No.2...
my point is would i have to run back to the van to adjust the water each time i need more or less?

With a Vari stream (fitted in the van) you set the controle that best suit you, then with a flow on/off controle at the pole end of the hose off you go, If you do go for the 100psi pump you will find that the flow will be a lot faster that the 40psi that you are using,hence you will be able to do the job a lot faster ie windows and frames together not as seperate bits, I would also suggest that if you are going to work from a van invest in mini or micro bore hose, as it is a lot less a problem to handle than normal half inch hose

Dont go for 100 psi Gaz.
My 100 psi just packed in and Gardiner basically told me that 100 psi can power 2 men with 100 mtr hose each and as its only been powering me with about 50 mtrs thats why its packed in.
Iv gone back to the 60 psi and thats more than enough
I would give the 40 psi a go youve nowt to lose mate
On a lighter note I got a call from Alverthorpe rd today,after telling her we dont do there she says do you know anyone that does.

My first reaction would be that the 40psi pump wouldn't have the power to run along 50 - 100mtr of hose.  I have a Backpack and when I use my 30ft pole it hardly runs on setting 1 I have to use at least 2

Why not do an experiment.  Get another another couple of hoselock connectors and a very long length of pipe a male to male hoselock, plug it all into the back pack and and a pole and see what happens.  My money is on a small dribble.

I have 2 flojet 100psi pumps and 2 varistream and they work fine.

If you have a faster pump and it's not just psi it's liters a minuet then you could fill up you back pack faster if the need arises.

I run a backpack on a trolley with 100mtrs of microbore and dont have a problem running to a 24ft height, ok I have to turn it to position 3 but what the heck difference does that make?

I have used a 60psi on my trolley and have a 100psi on my van and have a backpack with a 40psi in it.

The 60 and 100 are the same dimensions and are physically bigger and I would think they would last longer when running 250/400L a day whereas the 40psi is smaller.

I'm sure it would work to an extent but I wonder whether it is a boy on a mans errand?

i have just attached my backpack to my 50 m  half inch garden hose..... attached my pole  and cleaned upstairs windows....

so the 40 psi will work using it for a van mount, the only thing that concerned me was that although i could still clean on the No.2 setting, the pump was louder and sounded under strain, i also think the battery will wear out quicker as they are only small,
So although it does work, i think Mac gold is right in that the pump is a boy doing a mans job and wouldnt last the pace.
