HI ALL BEEN THINKING OF GETTING A TRAILER TO PUT ALL MY TUBS OF WATER IN DOES ANYBODY USE A TRAILER AND ANY IDEAS WHICH IS SUITABLE CHEERS FOR ANY HELP ANDY

I just spent the last four and a half hours, helping my mate build a metal hinged lid for my trailer, by the week-end, I should have it all finished, I have to put my tin sides on yet.

If you are thinking of getting a trailer I would strongly recommend a braked trailer, I also added drop legs to the rear of mine, stops it tilting upwards when you have more weight on the tail end or if your climbing onto it.

Spend a few hours in a car park and learn to reverse it, this will let you get the hang of reversing, but skill only comes with time.

thats a good weight where did u get it from all the ones ive looked at have been around 4 to 500 kilos

I built it my self, cut down and welded from an old caravan chassis, and I used the braking system and the suspension, the braking system allows you to reverse without the brakes applying.

I don't know if you can see the wheel arches in my photo? if you can do you sell them? if so how much are they/

I lent my trailer to the guy up the road some months back and it came back with a broken light and wheel arch : I have the new lights to go on but I need the wheel arch.

jeff, those arches (assuming they are the black plastic ones) are about £8 each - get the yellow pages out, look under trailers (or similar) and you'll find loads of companies who stock trailer parts.

Why not get a van?  Simple, cheaper to buy, doesn't require an additional ins policy, easy to reverse (once you get the hang of it) and allows you to keep the car as a err car.

I really don't want a van and I can't justify two vehicles, although I have 2 cars at the moment, one is up for sale.
If I can reverse a trailer/caravan and a lorry, I'm sure a van is no problem

I hated my trailer. It was more dangerous than ladders. It had a 400litre tank plus 100m hose etc. It did not have a brake.

I was not strong enough to push it up even the slightest incline, or resist it without chucking a wooden chock under the wheels on a slope. It took a huge parking space, was too big for peoples drives, and I had to disconnect it to escape cul de sacs.

Plus I felt that the cumbersome appearance and having to lift the hose reel out at every job detracted from the proffesional appearance that i was trying to project.

Replacing it mean't a third vehicle for me, but I was surprised to learn that I could use my no claims discount (they called it an introductory discount) on the insurance.

John what do you think of my trailer now I have done it up?

Fully alarmed on a mecury switch, anyone attempts to move it and the alarm goes off and the indicators flash.

I got that new mud guard for £11 local to me, thanks for the tip.
