If your knowledge regarding carpets and soft furnishings is sound, the NCCA course and exam should be a doddle for you....I can't see a problem

When I was considering becoming a trainer for IICRC I went on their two day courses and took their exam...I had to achieve a passmark of at least 97% to be even considered... NOW THAT'S PRESSURE.

Derek, I understand your point and accordingly the N.C.C.A. should be as difficult to get into.  If it was I think it would have more credit.

I would also like to see different "subjects" to be qualified in similar to how the I.I.C.R.C. do things.

It is way too easy to become a member, I became a member not even having been to a course of any sort to do with the N.C.C.A.

For my own reasons I am not involved with the N.C.C.A. anymore but thats realy a side note.

A client can get an N.C.C.A. member to clean we will say a carpet.  Lets hope at least the member will be able to do so.  Then under the same hat they could be asked to clean an area rug or a colour repair or an odour removal or an odour introduction etcetera not having a clue how to do any of the aforementioned.  Yet the claim is by being in the N.C.C.A. you get a......... well you know the rest.

Again with this in mind will the N.C.C.A. ever qualify people in the different fields?

Anyway, best for now.........having said that, you made the comment that it would be a doddle to get into the N.C.C.A,  which it is............ Why not make it difficult so that those who pass the test actually know their stuff.  I.E. a 90% pass or similar.  I am not saying that those who are members dont know their stuff as I am sure most do.

My specialty if thats what you want to call it is cleaning area rugs.

I have cleaned behind or instead of N.C.C.A. members who had no idea what they were doing but still "hid" under being an N.C.C.A. member to aquire the work.  While I understand their position to get work anyway they can, wouldnt it be better to be a qualified N.C.C.A.  Oriental and area rug cleaner.  It would certainly look more professional and not be such a con to the public........

Best, Dave.

I couldn't agree more with your comments...

A couple of years ago I did come up with a comprehensive plan for the NCCA along those lines...

..as I am no longer a Director I can't comment further.

There are some long standing members of the NCCA who have never attended a training course ...these are people who were members prior to those criteria being introduced.

I believe that members should be 'required' to attend meetings (i.e. Roadshows) where updated information is available.  This is much along the lines of the IICRC CEC scheme but much more.

Ian I dint think Steve meant we wanted Express to bombard the site.
But a few good offers every now and again being posted would be good business all round ;)

So how else would we know how good you are Paul, or how much you know? Any individual could lie through their back teeth claiming this that or the other, and we wouldn't be able to prove otherwise.

How about different levels of membership?

People who can provide evidence of some training and proper insurance could join as an associate member and only receive some of the NCCA benefits.

Those completing the NCCA course could have full membership, with all the benefits that comes with that.

Really don't know which way to jump on the ncca thing.

I and staff have been down to the course but have not joined yet ( Mr Wainwright if you speak to Mr Pearce tell him I haven't had a reply to my email) from sept/oct2006 ( i use apple macs as well so he has no excuse :D)

the NCCA are nice enough people, I wish Dereck Bolton still had more to do with it, but that maybe from 3M days.

Some people are, but I am not that interesed in NCCA doing thing for me regarding marketing, It's more along the lines of finding good brokers for insurance, technical advice, beware this problem ect. Thats what it all about for me, share idea and advice.

Don’t think Mike will go down that road as the company had its fingers burnt by me, am sure they made a profit.

Re ncca I was trained by the best well three of them, will that count. Hate theory
