Filling my backpack today, from my tank, using my 100psi shureflo pump controlled by my varistream, Turned the varistream up to full and it started to pulse, so I kept turning the control down until it was running smoothly and this was around the 1 'o'clock mark on the dial?

Does this mean I have to adjust the blue pot (switch) inside my varistream to enable me to turn my dial up to the full boost range on my switch?
if I do this will it start to blow my quick fit connectors off my hose reel?

Your shurflow isn't really designed to transfer water from your tank to your backpack.  It's a low volume -high pressure pump.  What you need is a high volume - low pressure submersible transfer pump.

My system is a trailer system, and when I need to fill the backpack I just disconnect my pole and stick the hose into the backpack are you saying this is wrong??

No, but its slow, a sub pump would do it much quicker and save time.

If you have to keep adjusting the varistream, it's going to cost a lot of time.

marine store do a 500gph pump at about £14

For what it's worth I've marked a position on my varistreem when everything was running well, however some days I still have to adjust either way from this "ideal" position a little, not sure why maybe power of battery/air locks/leaks?

My Varistream won't run much above the 12 o'clock position either.
It all depends on the diameter of your hose, and the number of coils on your reel.
The more resistance there is to the flow, the more the back pressure builds up.
It's this back pressure that causes the problem. The Varistream cannot distinguish between back pressure, and you shutting off the water supply.
pressure builds up, Varistream stops the pump. pressure drops, and it starts the pump again. Don't over do the inside dial adjustment. With the pump pressure switch disabled, the Varistream with the inside dial set to maximum, will allow the pump to go up to 130 PSI. Dai

I have decided to go for the little transfer pump, and leave my varistream alone, its happy doing what its doing and so am I
