Hi prodry

I am a member off BICSc and have city and guilds in cleaning science. I have sat and passed woolsafe but decided to become a member.

I recommend in my marketing prospect use members of woolsafe BICSc and NCCA.

I am not a member of NCCA but always recommend people to join. I just don't see the value in membership.

I had 20 staff and in post on this forum explain my reason for dropping this to a handful. ref post diversifying feb 27th 2007

Thank you for prodry your comments and I respect your views and I am very sorry if i come across as a bighead. I just like to help others with the information that i have learnt and profit from everyday.

I wish to say sorry to anyone else that might feel that i am bighead and wish only to help others.

Please let me explain where i am coming from.

No problem about you being a big head if you are, your information on marketing is good.

If you are using the logo's on your marketing and your not a member of said organisation then you may have a problem. This is misleading to others.

If you have made an error on this part I have no problem but others in your area that are paid up members might.

I am not a member of the NCCA because anyone can join who can passes an entrance exam and have no experience. In my mind this is not how a proffesional body should get it members and is misleading the public in the same way as if you use the logo's and are not a member. It has just become a sales tool.

Please carry on posting as i find your post very interesting.

can you use trade logos when not a member? I thought they were copyrighted and you needed permission

lets be honest, your website is cleverly worded to imply you are a member of some trade org' . So you don't see the value of being a member of the NCCA, but happily use there logo :

it took me 4 years to get my City & guild, how long did you study to get your one component  toward your city & guild qualification ?

it looks like you are using clever words to mislead & to give yourself credibility.

Some of Ian Happers posts are controversial and there has always been a reluctance to post Marketing Ideas.

To be honest when Ian first started doing it I was a bit concerned as I have paid out hundreds of pounds for similar information he is giving out for free.

However with the  Internet and International Forums this stuff is out there anyway.


You are not allowed to use NCCA   and Woolsafe Logos without paying membership.

I do not think you can use Trained by NCCA.

All i am trying to do is break the link that people have to direct response marketing to Joe and Robert. this way off marketing is not exclusive to them. and people might think that they cant use it if they are not members. because Joe and Robert have done so well in carpet cleaning.

sure anything that they have produced you cant use unless your a member or have been. but the rules of direct response are not owned by anyone, and have been around for years.

recommend prospects to use members of these bodies if they dont use me. I am sorry if it looked any other way. now its been pointed out i have changed it. The idea is called positioning, making recomemndations positions you as someone that is advising and not selling. the logos where used to show people what to look at for and if anything was a advert for these bodies. I would and in fact this week have recommended membership to the NCCA to a new carpet cleaner that emailed me. not all choose to be members of all bodies.

i don't know what started this post off but i always find ians post very interesting and i have never for a moment thought he is being anything but very helpful, the guy obviously gives a lot of his time to trying to help others, very mean to think he is showing off.

It sounds like a few people are jellous of Mr Harper's knowledge the fact that he is willing to share it. I had a consultation with a Marketing Consultant on the phone who has vast knowledge of the cleaning industry. He never gave me the information I wanted even though I was asking out right, what did want though was further consultations with me, for a price obviously!   People should be greatful that some one is willing to help and expect nothing back for it.  I suppose everyone is entitled to an opinion and debates of such are good and stimulating.  You all have a good day cleaning

all i will say is that he is GIVING away info that costs money!!!!!!

if u did all ur own research, collated all your own documents.....

ian has also given a lot of his time to providing the forum members with FREE usable info and docs......................

how many of you would do the same?
