Average Size Round

Whats your domestic round size? just wondering what the number of properties most individuals clean per cycle. I think I need around 250 as an absolute minimum just to tick over.

I would say 200 is enough to keep you ticking over nicely!

Any more is a bonus.

Just think about it, if your average house price is £7.50 thats £1500 per month for your 200 customers. Thats not too bad.

250 @ £7.50 (average) = £1875
300@ £7.50 (average) = £2250

and so on.

As long as your prices are high you don't need too many customers.

The less customers you have but are high priced  the better. = more time off to build more customers and good money ;)

Mine is 160, and it averages out a lot higher than the figure quoted for 250.

Ive said before and i,ll say it again its all about the quality of the work you have and not the quantity  ;)

Jonny,
Is that a telephone number or a mere 51,242,554 customers :o :o :o

If it's taking two of you 4 days to knock those out you need to pull your finger out! ;D

You need about a dozen a day at around an average of a tenner a pop, and you'll be doing well.
Go for a variety of work, big houses, small houses, though if you are just starting out, it's unlikely you will average a tenner per house!
Most of us underprice to begin with :-\

quality is way better than quantity,

I have about 210 customers and I've been going for 15 years.  I do most of them on a 6 weekly cycle (I use my van if I'm not feeling so fit  :)  ) .
I used to have about 350 customers.  I earn more from the 210 than I used to from the 350.  I do get about 10 days to two weeks off during each 6 weekly turnaround.  I am currently working on filling the gaps but this is happening gradually because I am no longer prepared to take work unless I earn well from it.  I could go out there and fill the gaps very quickly with work I would regret but I would rather bide my time and fill it with better paying work.

Don't seem to have problems with prices just speed. All first cleans so I go round twice. Are you guys whipping round in one go on a second clean?

We started from scratch 14 months ago and now have 150 customers with ave £14.50 bill. A couple of commercials puts the icing on. The lad copes well with that and I do the carpets.
We run on a monthly cycle so he gets a week off every 3 months.

We currently have about 470-500 jobs on a 4 weekly turn around.

At the height of my business we where cleaning just under 1000 properties a month on a 4 week turn around. That was when i employed lads to do most of the work. Sold about 520 trad jobs on and keep all the wfp work.

The round is much more manageable now and stress free.

If I was working on my own I would aim for 15 - 20 jobs a day at a minimum of £10 a job

That would equate to

400 jobs a month =£4000 a month at the maximum
300 jobs a month =£3000 a month at the minimum

All work will have to be on a 4 week turn around

Yes.  If you are thorough with the first clean, you never need to do a "twice around" again - unless it is a larger job that may be done very infrequently.

1st time frames and a quick going over the glass, second time just glass when hopefully any runs from the frame have cleared, I find it almost ::) guarantees you a good 1st clean ;)

I can't speak for Dave but I generally go around twice on first clean for the following reason:
The first time I do frames and glass - including top frame if there are no vents.  The second pass is glass only.  After the first pass, it takes a while for the muck that has built up on top frames to dribble down.  The second pass catches any that has ended up on the glass.  The longer you can leave it between passes the more muck can come down but this isn't always so practical on smaller jobs.  If that sounds picky, i have seen some pretty bad runs come down after the first pass before so I feel it is better to go around twice just in case.
