ro system installed
« on: February 21, 2007, 09:14:53 am »
i have a 300gpd ro system from purefreedom, im getting 005ppm after only using it for a couple of days. Shouldnt it be 000???

What can I do? Change the DI?

Also, a couple of the outlet pipes on the RO membranes are leaking, hardly enough to even drip.

Your T.D.S. should be 000 after your d.i unit, especilly as it has brand new filters and resin. They do recomend that you disguard the first 5 gallons on my 100 gal per day system so it maybe 15 gallons on yours, this is BEFORE you connect your d.i unit.

What is your tap t d s before your R O.

Hope this helps Jeff.

Disconnect the ro from di vessel and let it run 2 minutes after turning on. Then reconnect. Remember to give the resin a good shake every day. It stirs it up and lets all the particles get used rather than the water running through the same bit everyday.

The disconnection bit is V important. Test the water from it in the first couple of minutes and the tds can be very high. After it's flowed a while it drops nice and low so reconnect for the resin to polish it.

I've got exactly the same system. I got fed up of having to regenerate the softener every fill on my 40inch RO and having to get the sealed resin cartridges for my van system.

I was told to run the RO for at least 2 hours before connecting to the DI so as not to contaminate the resin. I use around 400 litres a day which I now produce into an IBC and then just pump straight into my van tank. My reading in is around 270 and out of RO 4 or 5 and 000 out of the resin. I havent had to change the resin yet in the DI and I've had it for nearly 2 weeks. Maybe I should go check my TDS out but its still 000 in the IBC.
