Police Hassle Today
« on: February 06, 2007, 09:00:58 pm »
I was just about to climb over a gate today when a policeman pulled up and asked what I was doing - I explained that I find the rear windows easier to clean when I amalso at the back of the house - he didn't see the funny side ofit!!

He then proceeded to get out his notebook and ask for my movements for the day,I bet when I finished he wished he hadn't!

I started with the time I took the dog for a walk, and where, its breed and name just so he could follow it up, then I started to list times, names, adress's and job value, he eventually told me to shut up when I said and pointed "next I am going to that house over there,it belongs to Mrs Tee, and no she isn't any relation to Mr T from the A Team and Rocky 3!"

Shame he stopped me because I was going to give him the next customers old address too!

I had that a couple of years ago but i think he only questioned me as i refused to clean there windows a few months prior due to access problems.  ;D

And this police officer has seen me about loads of times and have signwritting splattered all over my van.

I also had the police around when i changed vans and it had not then been signwritten.

Have they got nothing better to do that hassle someone who is trying to make an honest living.

The Police can't win !! He had nothing better to do with his time than stop and question somebody who was climbing over somebody else's gate !!!That's what they do isn't it ? ;)

I have a signwritten van stating window cleaner down the side, and he had been past while I was cleaning the third storey windows, he was just being a jobsworth.

maybe but in areas i clean there have been burglaries by people pretending to be window cleaners. they walk round the back with ladder and bucket and use ladder to break in. One customer who got done said "oh good its the real window cleaner today!!". Mind you doesnt explain his attitude does it. :-X

there are good cops and bad cops
they all have a job to do
just sounds like he was one of the bad ones
(speaking from experience 13 years worth then I had enough!!!)
punters love it though
some think I was naughty and was sacked
some think I was mad to give up that pension
truth is told them to stuff it and have not looked back since ;D ;D ;D

Several years ago, I was standing on sloping roof, cleaning a bathroom window when I heard those ominous words, " excuse me sir, are you the owner of this property"
When I replied " no " he seemed to lose his track of thought, and wandered off, maybe " lonely as a cloud "
I did wonder what he would have said if I said " yes "

Blessings,

Graeme

strange world. I did 8 years but the rest is identical to yours.
A few years back I had black guy working for me. One day I had call saying he was being followed everywhere he went by some Police. I raced around there and confronted the 2 in blue who claimed they were just taking a break. "So how many breaks per day do you get because you've had a break at  each and every property my cleaner has been at."
At that they started the car and disappeared.
