Two options for employing a / some window cleaners:

option 1 pay cheap but get monkeys - unreliable/late/lazy/rubbish!! What's the going rate??? salary or per hour

Option 2 pay more and get really good workers/conscientious/reliable/honest/ again what's the going rate, salary or hourly rate.

I don't employ anyone yet, but if I was to pay for labour I would pay about £8.00-£10.00 per hour.

Start them off for a couple of weeks on the basic wage untill they are trained up.

I think your going to have to pay around sixty a day. Make a day rate then you can easily half it if you lose an afternoon/morning. (make sure they know this). Unless wfp and work in rain etc.

You will need to put it up to around 75 ish when the're quick because they see how much is earnt and it's hard to hide this from them.

If you do commercial then probably a bit more. It's always worth paying well. But be warned, you wouldn't work for less than 100 a day or more probably, and they often start on their own when they are good - unless you pay well and it's just easier to stay with you.

If you can get good staff in Nottingham youve done better than me in fifteen years, ive had nothing but trouble with employing its hard to get good reliable staff

no it wasnt me never done any work out that neck of the woods but i do believe theres some good houses out there villages etc

i think £8 an hour is fair, going up to £10 when they are good.

although they can earn more if they start up on their own, it is always nice to recieve a wad of cash at the end of the week, rather than waiting for all those £8 cheques through the post like us lot!

This one is going to sound a bit strange, but if you just need a boost each week to help you out and are willing to be messed about a bit, consider employing a single parent or even two fo them.

Seriously, I know at least one other single parent on here that came into window cleaning for the same reason as me.  There is not many jobs out there that employors are willing to employ someone for 16 hours a week, beween 10am and 2pm 4 days a week or so.  This suits a single parent very nicely.  Working Tax Credit really boosts the payments but they do need 16 hours a week.

The reason I say 4 days a week, its simple.  Schools have a lot of time off, but they have mondays off more than any other time due to bank holidays so its best to employ tues-fri.  It also means that if for some reason he has to pull out one day due to a teacher training day that he can make it back a bit by finishing a bit latter for a few days, or starting earlier, or heavens forbid, working the monday.  If you think you coud be the sort of employer that would be willing to put up with a bit of wierd time keeping and would be willing to let a good employee make it back up then it could be worth it (ie you must be a bit flexible).

It might not be the answer, but if you want someone to work 4hrs a day for 4hrs a week phone the local jobcenter-plus and ask to speak to a lone parents advisor.

i will contact you again, been speaking to my mate from Beeston and he informs me theres a big new building site going up Birkin Homes or David Wilson homes not sure will go and have a look.  Apparently they are crying out for good window cleaners   Just took some work on out that way myself but its only a bit of commercial
