It will not go through with the hose and elbow fitted.

If you can reconnect the hose and elbow through a 6" hole then you might just be able to do it. The easiest way is to cut sideways away from the current hole about 6" inches. This will allow you to push the pump through and then you can simply seal the slot back up.
