picked up 8 rugs yesterday one is 12x10 silk rug beautifully constructed with a slight Tea stain on the edge... I am considering hand dry cleaning very lightlygenerally, any experience out there with regard to tea removal on this quality product, i am dubious about using normal tea/coffee removers as i want to keep moisture content down, any suggestions/likly problems from your experience would be good to hear....Value of rug is 11,990 dollers. cheers Simon   Customer purchased in ther States when living there Simon

You should have noproblem wet cleaning silk.

I cleaned a silk and wool rug before christmas 12' x 10', customer paid £4,500 for it.

Did a small test first using nemesis with hwe and it cleaned no bother, customer was delighted.

I then had to go back and clean her silk/wool stair carpet (paid £10,000 for it) again cleaned no problem.

As has been said you can wet clean it. Just clean the entire rug and not just the stain. Best, Dave.

So how comes i collected a silk rug many moons ago. At home I cleaned it, heating on and blower on for hours drying it AND RUINED IT.?
It ended up with the white colour having a dirty sheen to it which i couldnt remove.

For one it depends on how you cleaned it.  For two, when using an air mover you must make sure the ambient air is clean.  If it is even slightly dusty or just dirty you are just forcing the air soils into the textile that would maybe give it the "dirty sheen" you refer too.  Also it depends on how you are using the heating to dry the rug as if not done properly will slow the drying down and therefore giving you another problem. If it is silk be very careful if doing a wet clean!

I'd personally clean by hand with something like Prochem B140 Dri Pro..

Well in the end i hand dry cleaned it and the towels i used were certainly very soiled...the tea mark unfortunatly did not remove so i tried it with the alltec tea coffee remover again with little positive effect but with a noticable matting of the pile in the affected area ..fortunatly i was able to comb this out however i am relieved that i did not use hwe all over cuz i would still be trying to unmat the rug till christmas..... did advise the customer that tea unlikly to be removed   under promise and over achieve.....thanks for your replys to my queries all you fabric care specialists out ther...regards simon....
