What would the ideal set up be for your average wfp cleaner? Looking to clean mostly domestic up to three floors and possibly some small fourth floor(flats) Not looking for the ultimate system here just the most practical and not the cheapest either. What are you using and are you happy with your systems?

My ultimate set-up for your type of work would be as follows;

(All poles would have to come complete with Flow control valves)

a 12ft (3x4ft) glass fibre (extender) pole with aluminium goose-neck and lightweight brush, this would be used on most of the work as it would reach 2nd storey on most properties and is very light to use. Cost = £95

a 21ft (4x5.25ft) customised Universal or Predator pole with aluminium goose-neck and lightweight brush, this would reach all the higher stuff including most of the third storey work. Still reasonably light and maneuverable to work with. Cost = £165 (including customization)

a 35ft Super-lite pole with  aluminium goose-neck and lightweight brush, this would reach all the fourth storey work and above and could be added to if needed. Extremely light  to work with. Cost = £477.45

The only thing you might change would be to swap the super-lite pole (if you did not like the idea of a modular pole) for a facelift or Eco-lite 35ft Carbon Fibre pole.

The above 3 poles are what I use right now and it really is a very good set-up, the only difference to it is that the Super-Lite I use is a 45ft so I can go even higher. With the above set-up you will be able to do virtually any type of work, in the least time with minimum of strain. It has taken 5 years of trial and error (one 36ft pole I bought and only used for a month as it was useless) and 17 poles to come up with the above set-up. I also have on-board another 6 poles but many of those are trial poles/brushes or are duplicates of the above for multiple workers.

Im looking at getting another pole maybe in a few weeks.
Only an 18 ft one as i find sometime my powerpole does seem to get heavy on a busy day.
So want one thats fairly light so i can do my work and not feel so knacked when i finish.
Now you have those predator pole can you tell me does your gooseneck make the pole much heavier.

And also i notice on your site that you have 2 differant goosenecks.
One of the brushes i will get with my next pole is a sill brush.
But i dont think i would want to use this all the time.
So would just use a standard vikan a lot of the time.

Would the same gooseneck fit both brushes or would i need to differant goosenecks.

a 34ft carbon facelift, take 2 sections off to make 24ft & only add them when you need the extra height. i use mine like this all the time, its so light i use it for bottom windows too even at 90 degrees if needed. it just whips up & down in no time, this one pole will do it all with absolutley no aching arms at the end of the day.its expensive but well worth it. personaly i wouldn't touch anything fibreglass over 6ft anymore especially with an oval brush on the end. my last research found that gardiners had the best deals on this pole, and of course all the above is strictly in my own very humble opinion!

Customisation is taking a standard 6ft section pole and making it into a 5'3" section pole. By using this service you can have a pole of any section length you wish. This makes the pole far more usable on ground floor windows and also easier to reach the clamps, hence quicker to extend.

I use the 12ft Extender for ground floor windows as it is very light and has only 4ft sections. The advantage of this pole is if you come across some first floor windows then you can also clean those without changing poles.

An 18ft pole is a good middle size compromise.  The aluminium gooseneck only adds about 70gms to the weight of the pole over a plastic one. It has the advantage of making the pole seem to reach a lot further as you can still reach over deep sills without having to step back any further (hence losing effective pole height).

If you wanted to interchange a sill brush you would need Type2 G-Fit, which you could then use a rectangular brush on as well as the sill brush. Or you could buy 2 goosenecks, a type1 and a type2, as they switch as easily as a brush.

I hope that this gives you an idea of what to get for your set-up. A point to note with the Super-Lite brushes as included above is that they will need replacing more often than a vikan etc. I feel that this is an acceptable trade-off due to their incredible lightness (230gms as compared to a vikan at 450 gms) and the fact that they are easier to work on the glass ( in my opinion).

i have to agree with alex about the trade off with the superlite brush ( theory as i havent actually used one). the brush is a massivley important part of your kit. if the brush is good then its worth it to replace every 3 months let alone six. it will pay for itself many times over as oppose to one that lasts 12 months but isn't as good.
