What % should i retain when subbing a job ??
« on: January 03, 2007, 02:17:40 pm »
I'm sure some of you guys on here are pretty experienced in this so i'm looking for some advice. I've been fortunate enough ( although i have worked b****y hard to get them) to have been offered several pretty big builder's clean contracts. Am thinking of sub contracting some out and was wondering what is the general rule for this ?What % of the total amount should i retain for myself for getting the contract ??

Also if it is subbed out I presume i get paid by the company...then i pay the subbie...I take it that's gross not net ??? as I will be incurring the CIS charge of 18% ????

If you deduct the 18% from the subcontractor make sure you and they are CIS registered and you have all the correct paperwork and documentation  such as CIS payment certificates and payment slips.
