Chris,

3-6 months :o

you really should look at the spec of diaphragm pumps they are not designed to take heat, i would guess thats why they never lasted you that long;

http://www.dualpumps.co.uk/pages/diaphragm_roller/disphragm_roller_subs/flojet_electric_driven_pumps.htm

most are 50 degrees C. max

heat on a portable is best produced after the pump, they are supprisingly weak little things.

i believe Gary 'cleaning co' would know more than me on the subject of pumps, may be he could help me out, but what i can say is that c/c ing machine manufactures dont make the pumps, they are sourced, the pump manufactures have not designed them to take high temps, the c/c machine manufactures are aware of this, and do advise us to not exceed a certain temp. only prob is most c/c ers dont listen, and dont realise they been told this for good reason.

and they carry on and crank temp up ! ;D

I know that now !

But, why do a lot of HWE machines come with in tank heaters that will heat the water up in excess of the max rec heat for the water pump?

You dont think that they dont care do you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi , the pumptec 400psi are made for the carpet cleaning industry ,and they are made to a spec to handle heat upto 70 c , u can also crankem up to 500 psi by adding couple washers to the pressure reg, i hav in the past run two of these pumps into one sol line  now that had bit
pressure!!
p.s descale them every month u get rid of any probs with chems u are using  and u will prob find the build up of crust is more todo with high temps than chems

I have two Ninjas, both with 135 psi Shurflo pumps & have had very little trouble with them.  The one in the main machine that I use virtually every day has been in there for 8 years, with one new pumphead about 5 years ago !!

I use Ashbys powder & temps up to 70 degs. and I never flush the pumps out.  They just seem to run & run with no problems.  Whereas the Flojets I used to use years ago were always breaking down.

I have been tempted to get a 400 psi , but i wouldn't be best pleased if it was a writeoff in only 2 years.!

Most electrical gadgets purchased these days come with an instruction booklet, vehicles come with a user guide but I have only ever purchased one cleaning machine that came with any form of written instructions!

Maybe this is an area that suppliers need to look at,... in providing such information will effectively cover themselves if we, as end users, don't read them and take note.

Just a thought!

Total agree a noddy guide with pictures of course (don’t like long words or technical mumbo jumbo) they could even put on a cd rom to print/watch at our leisure. ;D

Jo, damn I thought I worked the least amount of hours. If you have only done 300 hours in 3 years then you have me beat. Having said that if its only 300 hours old then it shouldnt have needed anything done to it yet. Oh and you shouldnt have needed a new wheel. If you meant 3000 hours then you have done well only needing a wheel. Best, Dave.

Ashby's sell very good products, have very good customers service and there prices - be it servicing, repair, chemicals or equipment are realistic for this line of work.

I use them all the time and will continue to do so.

Two Questions,

Have you got to travel  from  Wales to Kent or are they collecting it.

Also was wondering if you Solution hose bends as this can cause a drop in pressure.

Joseph I do not understand about The Ninja being to heavy for houses perhaps you should invest in some extra hoses

After sales service? guarantee, what's that? I have had three Ashby
135 induction pumps all have lost pressure after/within one year with one common fault...ie knackered bearings on the motor! Don't tell me that's the chemicals I'm using!

I appreciate if the heater is going over the pre-set temp of 80, it will distort the plastic head causing pressure loss.  when ever I've opened the pump head and I use crystal green it has always been clear, perhaps the water isn't hard where I live.

steam out exhaust? you should use the pump out hose and rinse waste tank, to avoid moist damp air going through vacs and shortening life expectancy.

Good luck guys getting ashby's to honour guarantees.

"Must be the chemicals you're using!" ;D

"So basically its a big vax!"
