A trad/wfp challenge! (For Ian, Squeaky,Tosh)
« on: September 14, 2006, 04:25:55 pm »
Ian/Squeaky/Tosh

How about this for an idea to settle the "which is best" issue?

Tosh - choose two houses close to each other on your round that you did at the same time, with similar window types and layout and with similar access to them.

Take Ian and Squeaky along, flip a coin as to who does which and time both and see which house comes up cleanest.

Post the results with photos on this forum!

I'd watch! (And pick up some tips - both trad and wfp) And I'll buy all three of you a couple of beers each!

It's a game of three halves!

I will travel to Chepstow and fill the role of Squeeky, as long as i get his share of the free beer.

I reckon i am as fast as him trad if not quicker.

.   .   .   he "which is best" issue?

.    .   .   .  who cares?  each to their own and its called choice! We all have that ability and Squeaks has made his.

This Squeaky thing is all because he does not wish to go down the WFP route but others want him to, so they pick on him, goad him on and good for him in replying - he bites back.

If I lived near Wales I would be up for it :D
I have been doing a similar thing today on my own, I have been cleaning a large property, so I got my pole out and bucket and squeegee and a stop watch. I timed myself to do different identical windows on the house using both wfp and trad, trad won everytime except for some georgian style doors, and I also used the pole for some glass panels in the roof. I went back round the house to check my work after I had finished, it was mainly perfect apart from a few spots on some of the wfp work which I put right with trad ;)

Okay, I'm up for it too.

I've got some nice semis in Caldicot; good sized ones; identical either side and nice customer's who'd be up for it also.

So it's only Squeaky now to agree to it.

Personally, you just know there's going to be an excuse comming; or no response at all.

Leave poor sqeaky alone, If he ever went WFP there wouldn't be half the postings that we have now. He's thrown the cat amongst the pigeons that often, that the cats done a bunk. Has it come back yet squeaks?

What I want to know is where are all his colleagues while he is stuck up the top of the biggest ladder??

He doesn't really convince me he is happy up there by the way he is holding on (been there, done that  ;) )

I would say it is definatley Holland, cobbles, Town Houses, Push bikes (1920's style) just need the red lights  ;D

Sorry mate but obviously you dont know how to use wfp. I think you need to take Peters offer up & let him show you how its done, or give up wfp may be the best option.

I've been thinking about this challenge.

I'd be willing to do one of the houses 'trad', to compare times against Squeaks; since I'm no slouch with ladders and a squeegie either.

I'd also like to do one with a backpack, tops only, squeegying the ground floor (my normal method of work).

So we'd have times of the following:

WFP Only:         Ian Giles
Trad Only          Me; sort of a 'control')
Trad Only:         Squeaks
WFP and Trad:  Me

All timings start from getting out of the car/van and stop when you pack away.

I've two semi's that are next door and mirror images of each other; just about; and both customers are 'nice' and would not say no to a free clean.  (Obviously I couldn't profit from this).

I'd do a write up for PWC Mag, photos and timings of the result.

I think it would make an interesting light-hearted read.

We only need Squeaks to agree (or anyone else who works trad in the South East Wales region).

Then off for some beers.

OK then the wedding's arranged - where's the bridegroom - I know he's lurking! ;D

I've been to loads of weddings; over a period of two months, I once attended one-wedding-a-week (just about) when I was in Ireland and married to an Irish lass with a massive family.

I've also been the 'best man' for three others; so I know a bit about weddings and stuff.

From my experience the bridegroom is generally 'raring to go', it's the 'bride' whose reluctant.

So, Malc, your metaphor is weak, to put it politely.

I'm not implying that Squeaks is a woman or anything mind.

I'm sure he just hasn't read this post and risen to the challenge, like any red-blooded male would do.
