I have just been asked to do a builders clean on a newly completed small building site.

Being a bit over excited i have said i would go and see the site manager on monday what will be looking for from me?

any help would be much appreciated :

It really depends on the job specification.

The best thing to do is meet him, ask lots of questions and pick his brains.

Find out about time constraints, signing work off after completion, payment terms, you will get the feel as you go through the meeting.

On your pricing make sure you allow extra time to do the work throughly as builders cleans are nearly always labour intensive. Don't price yourself cheap as it will come back and haunt you!!

Thanks mate i have been looking through the old treads and i have found out a lot it seems it can be a bit of a minefield but i am up for it as i do not want to turn work away (only been in bus since jan06)
but i have noticed people talking about meatod statements and risk assements!!
what are these??

Really you want to be pricing your work at around £40 - £50 an hour - then what we do is add an additional 10%, usually get the job and it can be good money.  You could have someone come and help out but you would need PL cover and CIS otherwise most companies won't allow you on site.

don't think all the builders ask for cis as we have done jobs before where we were never asked for it.

cis isnt needed for window cleanners,but building cleans you need it.

I do builders cleans and you only need a CIS card if you are doing a full builders clean.
If you are doing just windows no CIS card is needed.

You PL may not be enough the builders cleans i do they insist on 2mil

Paul is right, if it is just out side window cleaning then, us window cleaners dont need the card

Method Statement = How you will do the job, what equipment you will use

Risk Assessement = What safety precautions you implement, what risks there are whilst doing the job to both your company and the client and how you will minimise these risks.
