« on: September 06, 2006, 02:05:16 pm »
Done a couple of suites other the weekend, both bought form Alders, i read the labels and both had recommendations to call Chemdry for a proffessional clean and even supplied a number, they get everywhere done they??, by the way both custys had used chemdry in the past but were not impressed.

p.s Does anyone use the Hand Mits from Solutions for cleaning suites and are they any good?

Chem-Dry (well the franchisees) pay to be on there supposedly to cover the cost of manufacturing the labels.

Presumably it's something the NCCA could get into.

Its easy saying that its something the NCCA should get into but for them to do it where would the so called £20,000 come from ? Obviously membership subs would have to increase - would people be willing to pay more ? I hear what youre saying but its a catch 22 situation.

I hear what you are saying too!

However, if there was some sort of "Umbrella" organisation for independant carpet cleaners that could negiciate national insurance contracts for carpet cleaners, get in with suite manufacturers etc it'd mean we could compete more equally with the national franchises. The organisation could then distribute work to its members as it comes in.

I'm only using the NCCA as an example as it already exists and has a reasonably high public profile.

Chemdry is not being cheeky but they, and one or two other franchises, have exploited a very good marketing opportunity.

The NCCA have in fact got their logo, name and endorsements on several carpet manufacturers labels (and have for some years now) and this at far less cost than paid by the franchises.

I recall that one of the major franchises paid something like £65,000. (Sixtyfive thousand pounds) to just 'one' upholstery manufacturer some years ago to get their name on labels.
This amount was then charged on to the franchisees....when you consider that the overall cost in this particular case worked out to 25p per seating unit of furniture you could say that it was a worthwhile investment.

Most if not all franchisees are locked into contractual arrangements with the franchisor and consequently deals like this are all part of their agreement with the franchisor.

The NCCA does not operate a franchise and if the Association wanted to go down this route it would have to increase subscriptions significantly...  not all members would want to participate.

hi there

frontline online work the same principal,

there isnt however enough room for every carpet cleaner to go into the system,  therefore there are entrant criteria to be met before they will add you to their database.

one of the best routes, through carpet cleaning to insurance companies is through the loss adjuster.

Loss adjusters will call upon the own databse of contractors in time of need.
