« on: August 09, 2006, 07:48:07 pm »
Hi All, as you are all no doubt aware from my many bleatings, I have just started and am being asked if I can just do the tops....How do you go about pricing? or do you turn down just tops? and say whole house or nowt.

Cheers
Dave. :)

usually what we do is charge about 75% for the tops, people then reason that they might as well ahve the downstairs done as well.

its  a def divide like you all said  north and south..... today a guy asked me to do front only (£6 house)... told him £3 (cos i need the work).... he said it was a lot for one side .. i said its very cheap actually, £3 to unload ladders, gear, climb ladders , wash all front windows , not to mention the fact i am saving him a horrid job in his eyes.... so he said what if i make you an offer of £2.....so i said perhaps you should save your two pound, and get your ladders out, with that i smiled politely and walked away..... two points here.1/. i would love to get £16 per house... but up here in west yorkshire its pretty hard going... although i may be corrected as i am very new.. and    2. i really will never do one half of the house as i feel they taking the p a bit and are so tight that they are even cutting there window cleaning costs to save pennies, once a month for christ sake !... and they are probably the ones who watch every stroke you make and keep you there forever talking rubbish and looking down on us.... my opinion.. i may be wrong and corrected here as i am so far, very inexperienced.

Thats it Gazza....That's just him trying it on and you in my mind did the right thing...You're not a dog....so dont take his scraps.

Glad to hear that you have had a good day...Bet I get more customers by Christmas than you .... ;), feel like taking the challenge?

Have to admit I do like the idea of charging 75% of the full clean for just doing tops...will wait and see other forum members reactions/views...

Cheers

I price up the full house and charge two thirds, If they have tops done I will only clean them once a month, if they ask for alternate months I tell them its only available to customers who have all their windows cleaned.

I used to charge about 75% for tops only but I stopped doing that a while back.  It would be pointless now anyway as I use WFP.
