Stolen Vans and Cars
« on: February 08, 2026, 09:25:30 am »

This is a very interesting read because the number 3 most stolen is the Ford Transit. Its not going to take long before the criminals begin to focus on windly cleaning vans with a hot water system installed. Its a win win situation, they can strip down the van and the van system at the same time. We all usually keep our poles in the van so they have a working business right away.

I have a Faraday box and pouch but the set I run with is usually lying next to the kitchen back door. From now on, I will be keeping these keys in my microwave which is next to the door, I don't use it much anyway.

I urge everyone on the forum to read this post because what will surprise you is the age of the Ford Fiesta that they stole.😮

Always, always keep any fobs in a Faraday Pouch.   Even if they are only left for a few hours.      It's even worth that practice when out working when in your pocket.

Far easier to sell a van without a window cleaning system installed.

I don't think there is much of a market for selling used window cleaning systems separately  either.

Second hand window cleaning equipment is worth next to nothing.

Theres not really a massive market where they can get rid of it quickly either.

I think your hot water system is safe for now.

My van sits unlocked outside my house all the time. No ones ever stole a thing.

Theres always atleast 1 ladder on the roof rack too. Theres no clamps on my roof rack. All your have to do is lift it off and it would be away. No ones ever touched that either.

Its not about the cost because insurance will pay out but about the inconvenience. I think you have to wait 6 weeks before the insurance will pay out. My insurance up in June and will be adding a replacement van on it so I can continue to work if the unpleasurable act ever happens to mine.

Putting keys in micro waves etc isnt stopping the people who steal motors taking yours if they want it.

Unless you have a ghost immobiliser on the vehicle. If they really want it, then there taking it.  Regardless if your keys are in a microwave or not.

Someone i know had 2 cars taken and they asked the police what they could do to stop it. And there reply was, nothing really. If they really want it then its gone.

They advised putting a beware of dog sign on the house. Because if they think there going to alert a barking dog. Then there not going to chance it.

Its not the local ned your dealing with. Its high end organised crime, there not daft wee joy riders.

Got another year's Mot today so I think i will put my new steering lock on my steering wheel at night. All we can do is make it difficult for them to take it. Don't think they would want an 18 year old van but we never know.

Your that worried people are going to steal your 18 yesr old van you put keys in thr micro wave and a steering lock on it.

You could leave the keys in the phucking ignition switched on and no ones still taking it.

Hope you are right but I have some power tools in the back all the time. Its just the inconvenience.
