Installed a new Wydale 500 litre flat tank and the water movement is terrible compared to my previous Enduramaxx 500 litre upright tank.
Has anyone used perforated drainage pipe or baffle balls in their tank to reduce water sloshing and how much of a difference does it make?

Fitting drainage tubes with holes in tightly together would slow down the swooshing of water in the tank a lot as each tube would minimise the mass amount of movement into many individual compartments .

Ive made that mistake before buy a flat tank and its so much harder getting the last of the water out, you can  have like 50l in the bottom you cant get to unless you park on a steep hill.

Or bump up the kerb with tank exit pipe on the road side allowing you to get all the water out,bit of a pain but that what I did in my first van as I had a 400 l flat tank

Bought a flat tank because I thought it would be a better shape for ratchet strapping it in, I say flat tank, the one I went with is more like a cube, so water level should still be ok towards end of the day. It’s the water sloshing that is a pain.

In the early days, Ionics used perforated drainage pipes in their tanks that didn't have baffles.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to fit them tightly into a flat tank, though.

Piece of cake spruce, mines got two big baffles in it, but was still sloshing badly compared with my upright tank. I just fed in the drainage pipe and pushed it round the baffles, it was pretty straightforward. I got a lot of it in there, so it really stops the sloshing .

I can honestly say, I don’t get any movement in the van at all now, it’s absolutely spot on.

 I’m going to buy some perforated drainage pipe tomorrow, hopefully this will stop the sloshing. Downside is I fitted an immersion to the tank for the cold winter mornings that I’ll no longer be able to use.

If you were creative you could probbaly make a wire mesh cage round the element to stop the plastic pipe touching it, not sure how you would fix it though, some sort of underwater epoxy.
