HMRC have 1000s of window cleaners on there books.
They use algorithms against our industry and every other.
If the algorithm flashes up an inconsistency against a business it can flash up for further investigation.
An old friend of mine had been a shinner for years.
Cash based for most of the time.
Had an inspection and had to pay back £50:000.
He reckoned they know every trick in the book re window cleaners.

My Barber got caught probably 25 years ago.It was long before contactless cards and online banking.
His wife had a good job and all his work was cash.

When he got called in he said they live of mostly his wife’s salary but they had already looked in to her accounts as well.I can’t remember the exact figures but he got hit for about 20k + interest  which he had to pay back in instalments.Took him years.

Making tax digital is not for are benefit. The problem is those that want to avoid it will still find away around it.

I only clean commercial every business goes through the bank so skimming a bit isn’t an option but the way are government wastes money sometimes I can’t blame people who do.

I’ve not found a tradesman yet who refuses cash.
