My RO from PureFreedom is getting delivered tomorrow.👍

So what's the first thing I should do once ive connected everything up? Flush for 10 mins?

Membranes used to be shipped wet with preservative. Many are now shipped dry and the advice from June at Gaps is to soak them without much flow or pressure when they are brand new so they are thoroughly wetted throughout. Apparently pressure from dry can lead to parts of the membrane remaining dry.

I set up the kit then run water through for 20-30 seconds at a time half a dozen times over a couple of hours with the flow off in-between.

As I say, the advice came from Gaps Water so I tend to believe it.

Vin

Thanks Vin. I think I'll do the same.👍

Your best bet is to contact pure freedom and seek there advice as to what you should do , listening to other suppliers advice is very unwise as should there be any warranty issues it’s pure freedom that will make a decision not some other company.

I'm sure it will come with basic instructions

Ive had one of them cheap 450 gpd R.Os since i started (3x150gpd) I keep thinking about getting a 40/40 but never had the need to upgrade. At a guess it produces about 1000l in 24 hours which is plenty to keep me going all week.

It costs me £90 to repalce the 3 membranes which i do every couple of years...
whats your water pressure mate' do you know?  i have the same set up now but not getting anywhere that production' may need a booster i think' my pressure is 48...

Could a 4040 membrane be run with standard 10 inch 3 stage pre filters? Or would i have to buy the whole shabang?

Tap TDS 200
After RO 014
After DI 000

Water pressure 35psi

It's took 3 and a half hours to purify around 450L for tomorrow's work(I had around 50L left from today's work).

I flushed it for 30 mins first as per PureFreedom instructions(I just turned the red waste valve anti clockwise fully)and to get pure I turn it fully closed again following instructions so there is no messing about with waste/pure ratios its already set by them(idiot proof!)😂. Obviously there is still waste water but its only little  more than a trickle.

Am not far ahead of u, I recently went 4040 set up, I found using a 50psi tap with 108 tds took over 6 hours to fill 650 litre tank at 005 before di
Am now on a tap with 70psi with 185 tds and takes approx 4.5 hours to fill 650litres at 007 before di

Wen u switch it on each day take the hose off the di for a few mins, u get all the deposits come through from wen u switched it off the day before so tds is high for a couple of minutes
Bought my ro from Doug at daqua

Also it sounds like ur fully closing the tap I was told not to do this hence pure freedom valve has a pin hole in it, I am approx 60 waste 40 pure

How do you use these shut off probes?

Mine didn't work. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks Matt. Good tip to let the hose out of RO for a few mins before each fill. The waste/pure ratio is set by purefreedom so the red tap when fully closed isn't fully closed really as waste water is still  coming out.

I'm new to all this so it will just take a bit of time to get used to a new system of purifying my water.
