I'll be taking the day off as I don't  think customers will appreciate me turning up. Especially if they're watching it on the telly.

What I don't like is the fact that I'll be losing 20% in pay that week. My road tax is up, £290, MOT due, service due, brake pads and discs all booked in. Some self employed people are just about scraping a living.  Meanwhile people who're employed will be paid full pay. The government should reimburse self employed people on days like this.

seriously just work if you want/have to.....i used to work bank holidays years ago occasionally.all your doubts are in your head

I’m going in mate, to take on your customers 😂

:D I bet you're off to your luxury apartment in Cornwall for the weekend  :-*

10 days in the Maldives for me next month! ;D

Why would you choose to go to the Maldives in October it’s their monsoon season ?  We go a couple of times a year usually march to may time it’s very hot in may though , very good diving .

still hot and sunny in oct usually..... :)

ill be doing a bit of snorkeling and kayaking but most of the time ill be chilling out and relaxing...a few cold beers, good food and the odd gym session! ;D

The temperature will be fine but usually there are extremely heavy and frequent showers from October through December been going there for over 25 years

Has the Queen died? They kept that quiet.

Almost as quiet as Dazmonds part time hours and Maldives holiday 🙄

You could work but I think it’ll be bad form if you do
People are very touchy about the royals so love some hate them  so it’s up to you whatever you think of them
On the news they said William and Kate are now billionaires so a day of for them won’t hit the pocket too hard for them

Why wouldn’t you go to the same place year in year out? If you like it you can go back knowing what to expect, particularly if it ticks all the right boxes. I’ve been to Egypt more time than I care to remember, simply because I know it will be hot, sunny, the hotels will be great and the snorkelling/scuba diving is comparable with the best of the rest.

I could spend twice what I spend when I go to Egypt and find out I don’t like the place and the diving is crap.

Where do you recommend for snorkelling and at what time of year?
Not been to Egypt.

Any time of year. I’ve found the best snorkelling to be in Taba, which admittedly is difficult to get to currently as there are no flights in to the local airport. You have to fly to Sharm then taxi it if you want to do that.

Hurghada is great so long as there is a house reef at the hotel.

Anywhere south of Hurghada is great.

If you can’t get a hotel with a house reef there are always great day trips available on snorkelling and diving boats, Mahtmaya is one island that is a regular place boats visit from Hurghada, heaven on earth.

I’ve never rated Sharm, far too commercialised, very few hotels have house reefs.

I'd never go to Egypt again now....far too dodgy....I thought there was a war on last time I went to Hurgada....never seen so many troops surrounding the airport, checkpoints every few miles and metal detectors looking for bombs underneath the coaches....

I wanted to take my missus to the valley of the Kings but nobody would take us...they said it was too dangerous... ::)roll

If you wanted to go to Luxor when you were staying in Sharm thats not the best move is it.

You could've just got a locals bus, hide in plain sight. Sit with the chickens for 16 hours and become acquainted with the delights of the city of Suez bus station ;) ;)

Wow, most people who go to Tiran will go from Sharm. That's quite. trek to Tiran from Hurghada, would've been quicker to go to Luxor ;) ;)

Or Mahmaya....

I first started going back in 87, backpacking it for three weeks at a time. Ive done that three times altogether I think, staying in flea pits to start with, costing somewhere in the region of 40p a night. Since then I've been back probably 20 times, maybe more. In all those times, from eating street food, drinking nile water and living like a tramp I've only had the sh!ts once.

I think Ive got asbestos lining in my stomach.

I've two weeks off from Monday so not bothered. Typically though, the van was booked for mobile mechanic on Monday. Full service, cambelt change and brake pads. Now cancelled.
