Windows tablet for George - advice needed
« on: June 26, 2022, 02:17:36 pm »
Hi. I just want to put basic George on a windows tablet to save doing sheets every month.
Can anyone suggest a decent one.
Is touch-screen only, a good option (to  avoid hooking up a keyboard)
I was considering the Windows Surface intel atom.
p. s. I have checked past posts but there seems nothing recent on this
All advice welcome👍

I used a linx10" for a long time but they are a bit slow and glitchy.
Recently upgraded to a surface go,much better

Me too. I purchased an AA used Surface Go with Windows 10 Pro.
The early surface go tablets are not compatible with Windows 11. This is something you need to be aware of. That might change in time though.

Another thing: I don't know for sure if George will run on Windows 11.
The other thing is that a full battery charge with the one I have  doesn't last long.

I do have a charger adapter in the van and if  necessary can use the USB C to slowly recharge the battery.

What I do like is that I have all my customers details, both past and present with me in the van. Previously I ran George on Windows XP in conjunction with Pocket George. Pocket George would only have active customers on the Palm PDA. We also had to wait until we got home to add new customers. Now I can do everything in the van.
Success is 1% inspiration, 98% perspiration and 2% attention to detail!

Thanks. I hope win 10 will suffice for a while yet. Surface range look like best quality. Doing work in van and less at home is the aim. Just didnt need the integrated advantages of  Aworka
This George tweak should see me right for a few more years. Cheers😃
