personally i think your wrong....i started up in the recession of 1993 and my present business has gone from strength to strength since the recession of 2008......i havent failed to earn more money year on year....i earn nearly £28k more a year now than i did in 2010.....

recessions have had zero effect on my business in the 27 years ive been trading....

I think anyone with payment problems should be dumped. Late payers, people who can't afford it...i'm sorry dump them.
They may have the best intentions, but they are not good for your business.

The current situation, I think will get worse, before it gets better. But if affects different people in different ways.
I had a custy today who told me both his pensions went up in April and he's doing really well. He put my clean up from £22 to £25.

My opinion is don't over think it. Keep going, keep cracking it out, keep getting new custies, however you do it.

According to Sky News the UK has experienced a 20.4% loss of GDP since the start of Corona Virus. That's the highest in Europe by a long way. This is worse than the depression of the 1930's which lasted around 8 years. I hope the window cleaning industry is resilient to the economic down turn but I'm not going to bury my head in the sand.

In the 2008 recession GPD shrunk no more than 2.1% in a single quarter. The country is in uncharted waters economically.

 I have had a few customers that have been persistent skippers over the past couple of years , been dropped ,  but have contacted me to clean their windows .
I have given them a first clean price and said they can call me as and when and it will be the first clean price .
I do state however that they will have to wait until I am in their area.
I am also actively building 8 weekly customers at a rate of 1 new customer a day... I dont realy need to but its just incase things get bad.
it also gains what the new start ups could have therefore making it harder for them

This is why it’s always good to have way too much work to cope with can you imagine being on time every 4/5 weeks,you don’t have to lose to many or have people push you to every other time and you will need to gain a fair bit more work,I’m always a couple of weeks behind on a lot of jobs.

This is because the whole world was forced into lockdown. Even the rich would have stayed in because the expensive restaurants Etc were closed . I don’t think the recessions really affect rich people and their spending habits.

The economy is picking up fairly fast again ......the key is making sure we don't go into another nationwide lockdown....if we dont then we ll be out of recession by the end of the year...

Apparently a recession is determined by a significant decline in economic activity over a few months.
Now my thinking is that people HAVE money , they are just not going out and spending it. The amount of customers that have bought hot tubs or have been doing their house up amazes me. I spoke to a plasterer last week and he told me I just can’t keep up anymore , he’s got that many jobs coming through now it’s doubled to the amount before lockdown. I think it’s a false alarm , just like the police chief telling us that crime figures have gone down over lockdown- well obviously! No one has been going out!!

Negative growth over two consecutive quarters innit?

Everyone I speak to says they’re busy. We’re very quiet. A third of what we were doing last year and doesn’t look good till spring.

Everyone is busy at the moment after furlough 1000s of city workers won’t be going back they will be working from home or going in 1 day and that’s only maybe every other week.
Spoke to a city worker this morning works at Canary Wharf his bank are moving into a small office from a massive one and are going to use it as a hub for meeting clients etc,all the local small outlets will suffer it’ll start at the beginning of next year I’ve never known a recession hurt a window cleaner badly since I’ve been doing it 👍
