I personally think it's all a bit silly, and when my Mrs was at home off shift last week she wouldn't even go outside at 8pm because she found it embarrassing.

I thought that would be the general feeling of front-line NHS too.

We're British and this doesn't feel British.

It reminds me of that stupid 'Red Friday' malarky where people would wear red on Friday to show support for the armed forces when they were getting smashed in dusty places.  It was popular in the USA, but despite efforts, it never caught on in the UK.

We're not very good at cringe.  That's why we don't say "Thank you for your service" to our military like the Septics seem to be so fond of doing.

The British way would be to donate a little money to the Cavell Nurses Trust, or buy a nurse a pint and offer them a few words of encouragement.  And give them a gong, after the event.

Not make a song and dance about it.

He's just doing a message for the bin men, now.
I did say offer to buy them a pint instead but he rightly pointed out that the pubs were closed.
He must have a good home teacher.

I like this comment on Jeremy's twitter feed from one "Spring heeled jack"

""I’m a NHS worker on the frontline who is currently on night-duty & was trying to get some sleep at home before my next shift when the clapping started..."

Clap for carers outside a Bristol hospital:

They're stood shoulder-to-shoulder clapping the Chinese plague all over themselves.

Just mental. ;D ;D ;D

A nurse was walking down my street when it hit 8pm  , nearly every household came out and was clapping . She looked so proud, everyone couldn’t stop smiling. Was a great moment  :)

Oh dear.
We found some paper horns leftover from New Year and used them. I might play Agadoo at the front door next week.
Stay safe.

And emotional to some people, who then berate it.

Good stuff. It's good for community spirit.
We were waving at one of our neighbours we've not seen for a few weeks. We know they are ok now.
